I like to give something of real value as that is how the information, and your web site links, get shared. Just sharing a snippet would probably get the initial reader to go to the site but it would not be a strong party to get the eBook shared.

This is immoral because you are offering the buyers a way to make decent amounts of money when otherwise you would be using the method in the ebook to make money yourself.

Also ebooks are the past.

Clearly you have missed the point of the types of eBooks that I suggest one offers and the marketing venues in which we share them.

I think a locker would be better on the content on the site itself... you want the DL to be as easy as possible to make as many people share it as possible and I could see a content locker of sorts doing well for a dating niche site once they navigate there.

For this particular method, I do not use Amazon/Kindle. I do have some Kindle eBooks out there but I use them in a different manner all together.

Another great share BTB! I've seen many failed attempts at this as you said, an ebook full of affiliate links just doesn't work the same. Like your approach of quality info and subtle links to your site!

Here is what I mainly do, theconscience. From the first post... easy to miss as there was a lot of verbiage there:

There are a million places will eat them up if you do the following. Facebook and other social media groups and forums specific to your niche do an excellent job in getting the eBook out to TARGETED groups.

Try this with the method I shared in the JR Vip section that you are using and you'll be smiling ear to ear.

Most eBooks are easy to create as long a you utilize a ton of variations of topics in one package.

Try not to bundle too many affiliate links within one eBook as you simply will lose market share after sites shut you off for knowingly violating their pollicy.

For this particular method, I don't like to put any affiliate links in the eBook and just use the header and footer to drive traffic to my sites.

That is wrong you can have ebooks that are permanently free on Amazon Kindle.

You have to do it this way:

1. Upload to Kindle first, before you upload the book anywhere else and enroll it in Kindle select

2. Once approved set it on the full 5 day free promotion.

If the book is getting good downloads then...

3. Upload it somewhere else, smashwords is good offering it for free.

4. Contact Amazon and tell them you have decided to make this book available for free, send them the link where you are offering it free (ie: smashwords) and they will make your book perma-free after the 5 days have finished. They NEVER like being undercut so they are pretty quick about it.

If the book is any good you will get a bucket load of downloads, with Amazon doing all the work for you. Cannot guarantee they will convert to your upsells though.

But a nice twist might be to offer your first upsell as a paid kindle book?

This is the best share I've seen on bhw so far this year. Thank you btb, you've given me so many ideas for my sites.

I wonder what you guys think of my idea. I plan to create an authority site where I originally plan to sell an ebook on. The idea of giving this ebook away for free has been on my mind. But I haven't decided on it yet. Could you give advice on how to proceed? and on what factors I should base my decision on?

How do you determine the point where you offer or sell a product of great value?

I would be basing my decision on how I wanted to monetize the site; if the eBook if your monetization method then you want to sell it. My method of monetization on my sites is rarely an ebook as I use a variety of different processes. The eBook is generally to advertise my site(s) using informational marketing so I typically do not charge for them.

I don't know that what I offer in terms of product is "great" in value on my sites; there is certainly value there but I am sure I fall well short of great so I'm certainly the wrong guy to ask that. Perhaps someone else has something that can help you there.

There is so much information on this forum, but only a few manage to provide value.
I guess it's about direct experience.

Here is a link to the eBook that started the ball rolling for me in this method. I deleted any links to affiliate stuff that was in there and, as you will see, there is nothing in the header or footer as it was just a "help out folks rank their sites".

There is very little in there that pertains to today's SEO and the process I use that is named in the eBook has changed a hundred times to roll with the times. Remember this was written in 2009 and SEO is not like your grandfather did it anymore.

There are a few things in there of value to the SEO community but the real value is in seeing how the eBook was laid out.

1) The disclaimer says to share it freely.
2) I have a couple of images in there that I made that, although rudimentary, aid in breaking up the content so it is easier to read.
3) I lay out the process and then repeat everything in a summary.
4) I made is personal (mentioned my wife).

Just about anyone can write an eBook of this quality and most can do a much better job... the title page should have been better but I was not really marketing; I was really sharing a method for free. Today, I use actual book covers that I generate so it looks much better just like you would for any other book.
