    which index to check for buying sites less than $100
    also if the site has a good archive.org profile.

    Historic index is only good to check history of the domain.

    Good Archive.org profile does not mean much.

    If you were referring to Majestic metrics, I normally place importance on the site's TF - if higher than 20, it would be a good addition to your collection. I normally use the historic index, but I do not see any differences between the historic or fresh, as TF>20 would be a good indicator.
