Hey so i've been using majestic to research and purchase backlinks for the last 3 months and its been very helpful in my opinion.

I have a problem though so I found a link I like that has a trustflow of 30 and a citation flow of 26 which to me looks very good. I entered the link im interested into majestic and it came up with only

    External
    Backlinks

    35

    Referring
    Domains

    12

    Referring
    IPs

    12

    Referring
    Subnets

    12

but this is a www.website.com/news which is the page they allow the links

and the main page has the follow stats

    External
    Backlinks

    1,262

    Referring
    Domains

    260

    Referring
    IPs

    226

    Referring
    Subnets

    215

which looks a lot better but thats not the exact page my link will be on.

Is this a quality site to have my link on and is it worth $200 a year?

You need to manually check if the site/page is spammed or not

I did manually check and it's not spammed. I noticed some links on the same page or recieveing a trust flow of 9 while others are reciving a trust flow of 30. Does anyone know why the difference?

The metrics look good, if the domain is in the same / a related niche I'd go with it.

It's a local news paper so it's not niche related but the topic category according to Majestic is "North America"

I did find a topic related one at a local event that is $1000 for the year but the link is like a trust flow 40 or 50 and the link has over 200 or 300 referring domains to it. idk if thats too much though

I see. It can't hurt to have some newspapers linking to you. Regarding the other option; if it's a legit site it can never be too much. But for that sort of money you'd definitely want to have some influence on the anchortexts. Ideally you'd want to find an organisation within your niche where you can post freely. This doesn't necessarily have to be expensive. I found one for a client once for €175 a year, trust flow being 61.

Can you tell me what you mean by influence over the anchr text? I've been just doing brandable anchors with my web site and domain name. I'm getting mostly links on link pages and sponsor pages and a few blog mentions. What do you recommend?

Usually when you buy a premium link somewhere it will be your brand name / naked URL. This will help build authority, but it's absolutely crucial to get some exact match and partial match anchor text links for whatever it is that you want to rank for. So instead of just buying a bunch of 'brand' links, try to get some contextual links as well. This will allow you to use custom, non branded anchors.

Let's say you're trying to rank for 'best TV of 2016'. Buy a press release or something similar and have a part of it be about TVs. Then say something like 'Brand is known for their best TV of 2016' linking 'best TV of 2016' to your site. Anchor texts explain a link to Google. Exact match anchors are naturally pretty rare though so you'd wanna do this for maybe 5% of your total anchor texts. Google at some point released the infamous penguin update to keep people from abusing anchor texts but it's still a big factor. Percentages may be different in different niches so make sure you check the top results of your main kws for their percentages. Can you tell me why I would want to post more then once on a page?

By 'try to get some contextual links as well' I didn't mean placing those links on the same page / domain. It can't hurt though to have multiple links from a single domain / page (unless it's a PBN). This is actually quite natural, if you look at the metrics of your original post you can see that the domain has way more backlinks than referring domains which means some domains link multiple times.

Okay great. What's a really good backlink worth? I mean I think 1000 for the year is quite expensive for 1 link
