Magento product feed help

I have a friend that has an established site where the shopping cart system is magento. She asked me about creating product feeds to submit to search engines and shopping sites with it and I can't seem to find any free solutions. When I search for info on it all I can find are "services" with monthly fees, or magento add-ons that cost $xxx.xx to do this. I have no experience with magento so I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction on this.

Magento has this built in as standard, well for google shopping any way.

Unfortunately this google base built in functionality stopped working awhile back. I unfortunately had to purchase a 3rd party extension for google merchant center. It was difficult to get working but I finally figured it out after some good time spent on it. After the initial time investment to get it working I had no complaints but recently merchant center has sent me a notification stating that if i don't include google product categories in my xml feed, then my ads will be disapproved.

Its pretty frustrating, but right now my ads are still running so i'm ignoring this warning until it becomes a problem.

If anyone knows of a good extension that will work perfectly out of the box i would love to hear about it.
