Made the #1 mistake - What now?

i found a EMD for a keyword of 20k monthly global searches.

I made a site and all, and now I found out the 20k searches were on broad. Guess what... exact monthly searches = 0.

I know this is a huge mistake, turns out I learned this lesson on my own skin... What should I do now?

I just finished building up the site. i have done no SEO yet.

What would you do? try ranking the site for another KW?

any help would be appreciated..

Go back to Adwords Tool and find good related keywords with a decent exact searches. Target those. (-;

Hi, i agree with them, try to find some good keywords related to your niche and to the one you were targeting and dont worry, having a emd helps but you can rank for other keywords just as well, and dont beat to much on yourself, allmost everybody made that mistake in the beginning, atleast from now on you will always look at the exact match numbers.

Dont worry about it. Just do as everyone else says and use it for other keywords.

If you decide to go after a similar EMD., just use this site to create some niche related keywords

i wouldn't personally waste too much time on ranking for related KW's (because it will be harder). just sell the site and move on to finding a new EMD with exact match. EMD is always going to be less hassle than trying to rank for associated words. No point wasting time on this one because, after all, you wanted a high traffic EMD and this is NOT it so why waste time with it?

how much is a site which had no SEO and has no earnings worth?
how can I estimate how much it's worth?

Typically around $10 if its a dotcom. If the site you built looks pretty professional and has some standard monetization method (like adwords or something where the buyer just has to insert his own code) then you might be able to get around $20 bucks or so selling it on ebay.

Unless you take the time to do seo and build up some traffic stats, and even better get it to make a little money then the $10 - $30 range is probably about the best you can expect to get for it.

But don't just automatically give up because your emd isn't perfect. There's a lot of other factors that are much more important. In fact once you find some better keywords you could set up separate subfolders for each of the best microniches with pages targeted to those. If it's a decent sounding name then it's probably still worth building on, especially since its still an emd for the general keywords. Just add the keyword specific subfolders and start doing your seo for those.
