Made My First Dollar on IG - Did my customer get value?

I made my first dollar ($5) on Instagram doing a shoutout. I am also receiving products from companies prior to this.

My issue is: I am not sure if my customer received value or not. Either way, he paid and services have been completed but....

I have 5K followers, I charged $5 for a 6 hour picture post. I photo will probably receive 120-200 likes and 1-2 organic comments.

If my customer only get 1-3 followers from my shoutout, did he get value? Or is the photo exposure good enough and my customer gaining followers just a bonus?

As I continue this journey, I'm not sure what my customers will be expecting.

I'm not sure if I've failed him or if he got good value.

He got what he asked for. That's his poor investment, don't feel bad for him.

$5 for 1-3 followers is definitely not worth of value. It's roughly $10-15 per 1000 likes depending on niche.

If he got value out of it, he'll come back again and if he didn't, he will not. He either thought the experiment was worth the shot, or he doesn't really know why he is doing it. It's also possible that he got enough value out of it or that he manages to make his money back in this situation.

Of course that small amount of followers is not worth it, BUT he made the choice to invest that 5$ in a shout out. If he didn't get value maybe he should have looked at your engagement rates, and other options.

Do you guys ever refuse a shoutout, because you know it won't work out? I do actually. When a customer is paying good money I feel guilty when it didn't give some good results. Need to keep the customer happy.

Nowadays I just say no and explain them why. They always appreciate the honesty.

My thoughts exactly, but if a customer feels like that didn't get value, then the OP's reputation might be tarnished, making it harder to get customers in the future.

Great point. I've reduce the price for him down to $2.50, although he was not complaining. I want to give him what I'm worth. I don't want to be greedy.

We will continue to work together.

He is a happy customer.

don't blame yourself because you feel he didn't get the amount of followers he paid for. You provide a service and he pays for it. wether he likes it or not you did your job. Don't worry about it.

Yes very good point. My angle was mostly making sure the customer doesn't run away because I'm not giving enough value without realizing.

i like your point ... the most here try to make a $ and don't care about the return for the costumer.
your point of view will be successful in long term.
