Lumen5 - script alternative?

Hi all - I'm really impressed with Lumen5, it does exactly what I need (even the free version). I want to generate a tonne of promotional videos based on existing page content - so it works a treat.

BUT, I want to automate things still further...

Has anyone seen anything close to lumen5 output, but with linux scripting, i could easily cook up all the ffmpeg to splice together background images (appropriate royalty-free ones from the usual online collections), mix in background music etc. BUT wouldn't know where to start with the overlayed text and the nice transitions of text onto the page, or between pages...

Any ideas out there?

Thanks appgal! - Vhooks looklike they were deprecated (in 2008) but their replacement is libavfilter... so heading off to learning about libavfilter now
