For domain registration, find cheap coupon at godaddy. I love their domain panel interface. Or namecheap is also good option. For hosting, I personally use asphostportal.com

You can go for Knownhost their hosting is good and I am using that from a while ago
and that's working good for me you can check that for yourselves
Price is reasonable and resources are Better for value than bluehost

Site speed is really increased

If you have not purchased domain and hosting for your client site yet then go for either namecheap or godaddy becuase they both are well known name in the hosting and domain industry.

It depends on what kind of hosting you require. There are so many kinds of hosting specifically directed towards the kind of task to be done. Do check whether the host indulge in overselling?

it is not fair to say who is the best type, there are guys who charge hundreds of dollars for the same hosting package and then others who charge a dollar (he who must not be named company that is stickied to not be promoted ) pls elaborate your use, static or dynamic site, what kind of traffic, what kind of hosting shared, vps or dedicated. Different hosts specialize in different niches. i personally use various different hosts concurrently and all my domains are on a different host cos i DO jump web hosts for my shared sites frequently. VPS plans are where you can get quality but comes with extra $. otherwise just googling top hosting companies will give u a good start. be careful with the price, if its too good to be true it IS. $1 for vps sounds great but unless u know the guy sellin it is not feasible for a business to sell that.
