Hey guys, found a domain I really like and the seller is asking $3000 for it. It's a decent amount of money so I want to make sure the payment is secure.

What do you guys usually use for transactions this size? Is escrow a must or are there other safe options? Any advice appreciated

PAYPAL

A $3,000 domain would be considered quite a significant domain transaction. There are domain escrow services such as Escrow.com and Dan.com, but I personally haven’t used them before, so I’m not fully familiar with the exact process. I really wouldn’t recommend doing a direct person-to-person transaction, since there are many potential risks involved.

godaddy.com offers domain broker services where they negotiate for you, etc.

I haven't tried them actually, tho they have been selling domains for years...

I prefer PayPal, as you are a first-time buyer
Good point! What about crypto though? Is that also common for domain transactions here?

Escrow.com. Pay attention to the terms of the deal.
Good luck!
Thanks! So escrow.com is the way to go for this amount? And what should I specifically look out for in the terms?

Escrow first - Paypal 2nd - if they wanna do via TG run a mile

Does the seller prefer fiat or crypto payment for the domain?

For a $3000 domain purchase using Escrow.com is the safest option The payment is held by a trusted third party and released only after the domain is successfully transferred to your account

Many domain investors also recommend escrow services for deals of this size to avoid fraud or chargebacks Direct payments through PayPal or bank transfer are much riskier unless you know the seller well

My rule is simple if I’m buying from someone I dont know escrow is worth the extra fee for peace of mind

What about crypto though? Is that also common for domain transactions here? The seller I'm talking to is actually requesting crypto payment, not sure if that's a red flag or normal

If the seller is reliable with sales thread and all, then sure.

If it's a random member here, then not really. It all depends.

To be safe, just use Escrow. If the seller insists on crypto and isn't a reputable person, tell him to take a hike.

Escrow.com

You are the seller, you set the terms....it's the safest, most reliable option.

You can use a service like Atom which is also really safe

https://www.atom.com/pay

I personally wouldn't touch PayPal to sell a decently valued asset
