One of the clients a local dentistry office is in need of someone to help their google places account rank above other dentist offices. If you are skilled with google places and have had goodluck in the past feel free to message me.

This is exactly what I do for a living. Unlike your other response, I won't guarantee anything. I don't control Google, I just use it to my clients advantage.

I would be happy to take a look at the listing and report back to you what my recommendations are.

As far as an expert, anyone who says they are. Run like hell. Basically what you need to do is create a presence for the dentist then submit to the locations daily if not, twice a day. One of my tricks that I do is Auto Submit 3 times a day, added a twitter and a facebook page. If Goog sees this, then they see that there is constant updating. It wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe look at creating a Yelp account and there is one other place that rates places. Those would be good starts.

Now if you are not wanting to do this, my quote to get you in and secure depends on how fast you are looking at getting in there and maintaining.
 
is there anyone with experience of google places rankings in the UK?
 
I'm a google maps expert. However, you must have a physical location and or a verified map page with admin access. Currently ranking over 10 businesses in the top 5 for their industry. PM me for details and to discuss project.
