I can write websites from scratch, I may be able to administer a server on my own, hence why I'd like to get a VPS.
I don't need a GUI, I wouldn't mind if I had to install the OS myself.
I have bought some domain names on NameCheap in the past.
I've never hosted a website other than auto-administered ones, I need to know a cheap solution cause I can't be able to pay more than about 100-200/year.
I've heard of OVH which costs about 4.20/month and Linode and DigitalOcean which both seems to give less control over the VPS.
I'm not willing to use containers nor GitHub yet. I don't care much about log management services as I can write a script for that.
Not sure how many websites I want to host, I wrote some but ofc I want to start with just one of them (which I may upscale later on).
This website is written with Django and needs to save some text each day (about the size of a book page) on the db.
It uses very few static files, no user-created content including user accounts.
I also need to know a way to monetize this website, I wanted to implement a subscription system like by using Stripe, but that would most likely require to write a user account and a subscription systems and, since I'm alone doing this, that usually means the website would become big enough to be stressful to the point I'd abandon the whole project (it already happened with some other projects).
I used AdSense a long time ago then I began rejecting the idea of make use of it, yet I know that if I'm not willing to monetize in any other way advertising should be taken in consideration.
What kind of web hosting do you think is suitable for me?
