So I have been playing with my three websites for about 18 months and the things I have found is long content pages with multiple medias (picture, video, words) and multiple keywords and variations of keywords with similar words (onsite, mobile, location) ranks better.

I think the days of ranking for one or two keywords on a page is over. It is about lots of supported content using similar words and putting all of your services on your first page to rank for multiple keywords. Google has gotten smarter and implied meaning and ranking you for similar terms in your niche.

I have changed over one of my sites from 14 pages to 6 and the main page is three times longer and it is ranking better 60 days later. I have also noticed after this change google rewards you more over time for your site and its link movement and short term gains may be needed by some but is not a winning formula over time for most search terms.

What do you all think is increasing the length and content of your "landing page" money page, main page now a viable option and reducing your pages actually better for your website vs trying to rank multiple pages.

Adding quality content on your website (advantages, services, about us, USPs, testimonials, Blogs etc) is always a good idea.
Removing number of pages is not recommended.
Optimizing different pages for many keywords is good idea. Give weightage to home page altogether.

    Cheers,
    Steven

Agreed. Picking up multiple keywords on a single page (where intent is the same) is my preferred option.

Yeah, Longer content does seem to work, even For Bing!
Although ranking on Google is taking lot of time as compared to Bing

its all about user interactions on a page

rankbrain I suspect is what is boosting sites because it looks for relevancy from my testing

The people I work with are having tremendous results because they are having much more dwell time and user actions on their content when we make the content real long

One example we took the bounce rate from 91% to 71% and now down to 41% in just 6 weeks

He has had such success manufacturers are contacting him to show case their products and work out deals for distribution

Long content with lots of things for the user to look at and do is in

I recommend you do all you can to create pages for the visitors the heck with writing for the search engines
