Game changer!!! Facebook introduced a new feature that allows users to subscribe to PUBLIC updates on PERSONAL profiles. This essentially lifts the 5,000 friend limit on profiles

Can someone help me clarify why it's a game changer? or what this will allow us marketers to do?

The cap used to be 5000 friends for a personal account and if someone tried to add you (or friend you) they got an error pop up saying you were maxed out at 5k friends...

Now they can just "subscribe" to you. This way you can still reach everyone and not turn people away when you hit 5k

Definitely seems influenced by Twitter, but I don't think it'll kill it. People who use Twitter a lot seem to stick to mostly that site (same with Facebook).

Doesn't sound like it will do too much.. famous people with over 5000 friends usually have Fan Pages they use to communicate with people (Bands, Musicians, Actors/Actresses, etc).

no this essentially kills fan pages cause there isnt really a need for them now.

This is really good you will not lose some of your friends that cannot add you. As long as they are subscribe with you, both of you still have a connection.
