Lonely/Depressed from IM

Best friends always come from school, hangout with lot of people you will find your group.

You schedule is a missing daily masturbation sessions.

Lots of people feel that way man; every month or so, someone posts a thread or comment like this. It's perfectly normal to feel lonely/depressed when you don't hang out with anyone else because having a form of community is natural; animals join packs, fish swim in schools, birds join flocks...mating happens, etc.

I think dating or being married helps a lot with that loneliness, and it also doubles your circle of friends. However, you can't subject everyone to some arbitrary metric of what you consider 'quality'...the world needs goofy artists, simple Amish people, serious-minded carpenters, rocket scientists, grandmas that like to knit, college kids who dig the Grateful Dead, etc, etc. Everyone is unique, and most people I meet end up being a lot cooler after I get to know them a bit better. Sure, there are some morons out there...in fact, there are a lot, but perhaps the best thing for you, since you seem to be consumed with IM already, is to hang out with people who know absolutely zero about IM. You need that balance.

Anyway, if you are still craving IM-only types, then check out 'meetup' and you should find a couple groups nearby that are into IM and/or entrepreneurship.

Don't feel bad pewp , I feel the same way from time to time. Christianbed has some pretty good idea's here follow through and you shouldn't be disappointed.

Since youre in school, youve got probably one of the best options for making friends. Be it HS, Community College, or a Uni, theres tons of people to meet. If you want to make some friends, id suggest talking to people in your classes and being gregarious. talk to the girls and guys alike regardless of what they might seem like at first glance. it can help you be a lot less judgemental if you tend to be that way.

You could join clubs or something, but i think the best way to get out there is to go to parties. if youre saying, "hey, i wasn't invited" screw that, invite yourself. everybody will be drunk and if you bring some liq they wont care. If you have confidence issues with people, i think parties are a good way to work on this. Don't drink and youll learn to deal with drunk people. if you cant deal with drunk people who wont remember your social mistakes, how are you going to deal with your social anxiety when it comes to normal life? That was my philosophy and after two weeks of social networking like this, i had access to women, dudes to chill with, and any drug on the market. Thats not to say these people arent superficial assholes. Ultimately that lifestyle isn't really worth it. you do nothing productive and kind of waste away, seeing people destroy themselves.

I think a small group of close friends is the way to go, its easier to manage and are more likely to be with you through life. Ive got 4 really good friends and 1 best friend that i can be straight up with. What you cant inflate is time, and time & experiences make those friends. My best friend stood by my side at my girl's funeral and helped me when the law was trying to incriminate me. Those kinds of experiences and friends are rare and cant be made up like the party-friends. SO, focus on meeting good people and making lifelong friends if you can, but the party lifestyle can be a quick remedy to creeping loneliness, but when youve got no one to stand by you, youre really just as alone as sitting in your room.

I could have quit my offline job years ago, I make 10 - 12 times more online then I do at my offline employer. I have multiple LLC's, 15 contractors, etc, etc, and decided to keep the job and just go part time. It really helps me socially, to work and see my work friends, we get lunch, go to the bar after work, hangout and so on. It is also the only way I can get laid nowadays, never had much luck at bars, but through my offline employer I can score 1 - 2 flings/beneficial friends per year. It gets annoying at times to have to show up at a wage slave employer once a week and delay my online work but I think psychologically its probably for the best. To the OP, I would try to find a part job where people your age typically work even if its a low paying job below your current pay or standards. The summer time is usually the best time for scoring a hottie at work, all the college girls are home working and looking to have some fun while they are back home.

Get a hobby man, i think its much better to have a few friends you trust than a million friends you cant trust. I joined a film society, initially i was reluctant because i presumed theyd be boring as hell but when i started to go i had an awesome time, have a look around for societies, im can be lonely but in 10 years time, i guarantee you if your school has a reunion, the popular social crowd will be stuck in some boring job whereas you wouldve come back from skiing in st tropez (assuming you continue to expand your im ventures). I have made some awesome friends in im as well, i was considering of setting up a skype group for everyone to get involved for the early 20s/late teens to get us to talk to eachother.

Rent a shared office instead of working from home - you wrote that you are making solid bucks, so invest them into a membership in co-working centre, share office with another people and get new friends!

Check out your city on http://www.meetup.com/ to find some good events for you.

Good luck!
