This is the price a business will pay, when it refuses to adapt to the changing times.Long ago, they should have changed their model to the Binance model. Instead, they stuck with Bitcoin only transactions.I used to use them years ago, and stopped using them when I discovered Binance.

The good thing is localbitcoins has not exit scammed. New registrations are stopped from 9th Feb 2023, trading stops 16th Feb 2023 and their official announcement states that users can withdraw their crypto from the platform for the next 12 months, while their official announcement also mentions that they encourage their users to withdraw their crypto as soon as possible.
LocalBitcoins is registered with and monitored by the Financial Supervisory Authority of Finland.
Next good option is Binance P2P.
Nonetheless, never keep your crypto in any centralized exchanges, except the crypto quantity that you want to trade or exchange at any given point of time.

I would imagine in the current environment, that raising money to keep that sort of service alive, as it is crypto related, would be hard to do.

That’s surprised me. I guess that service was built in a time when there was no regulations with crypto and maybe those changes and the costs that come with them made it difficult to fund the platform and keep it going. Very sad to see them close though.

I remember buying bitcoin back in 2015 -2016,localbitcoins was so easy now they make you verify your identity before even inquiring with another seller.
probably the biggest reason why they went out of business. The hassle involved in buying bitcoin just made paypal more reliable.
