Local seo tricks --> What I've seen work so far

Not a bad contribution OP. Some decent info in there. Though I wouldn't use SEnuke for even my churn and burn sites.

Whitespark, SEOserviceagents, and Brightlocal are all great options. DirectoryBug, WLmarketing and Catylist eMarketing are also a few good options that were missed here. Should you be looking for something a little bit different, I (shameless plug) also do some citation building (w/ a twist). See signature : )

Lots of different pricing options, different deliverables and citation mining methods to choose from. Now you have a whole bunch of options!

Other than creating citations for Google 7 pack increased rankings. What other methods are there?

I have been reading/viewing a lot of posts/videos and people rehash the same junk over and over. "Make sure to fill out your profile 100%, make sure to have consistent NAP, get real reviews"

That is obvious, and once that is completed and you still are not in the 7 pack then what?

Great thread, ranking local for free has become much harder with things like Angie's List and Yelp sucking up the top SERPS. Anyone willing to share a big citations list with the team?

I have been doing about 40 citations per month and got the top 10 sites reviews. So far I haven't seen any benefits but only been doing it for one month

1)those results are only from google maps that is correct, and it is also concidered organic SEO. 2) If you want to hit the local keywords Location + Keyword is the way to go. Yes, you the best thing to do is create location pages for each major area you want to cover. Recommended right now is when you create a page, you optimize it for 3-4 keywords. It gets hard as you need unique content for each at times.

Do you have a website that is linked in your google places listing?
If so, what is the rank for the website? Your website ranking influences your 7 pack ranking. ie if your website is #1 it will push up your 7 pack listing. If your website is ranking poorly it will not help you (not sure if it pulls down your 7 pack ranking).

Let me give you some tips on local listings. If you want to rank on google places the main local algo factor is organic rankings if you rank on the first page in organic then it would be more easy to rank on google places. The second most important factor is citations.When I see people talking about citations they only talk about submitting info on business directories like yelp,angielist,manta,citysearch,yellowpages,,etc.Let me tell you citations are of two types structured and unstructed.Structure citations are those citations where you get citations from business directories and unstructured citations are those citations where you business info was present on those sites..Let me give you some examples of unstructed citations for MPE - Brooklyn pest Control
1 brownstoner(dot)com/forums/topic/exterminator-for-ratmouse/
2 youtube(dot)com/watch?v=CnSxI0s5bCw
In these sites I have just updated the business name,Phone # and address and it is counted as citation and value of citations from sites like this are very high.You can try it

Agreed, Google Places is highly recommend if you have local businesses. We have listing attached to employee addresses to increase our scale.
