When I first started with local I tried some of udemy courses but they were way too generic and didn't provide many actionable info.

I'd recommend thE same way you keep yourself up to date with PPC, read blogs and articles from well known sources. Search engine journal just had a good article titled 52 local seo strategies for smbs which i found helpful. And I second avoiding Patel, just can't get over how hard he sells his shit with generic blog posts but great titles that make you think it'll be worthwhile
