Hello all,

I work for a marketing agency performing SEO.

I've been working on a website that makes business signs and vehicle wraps for about six months.

Gradually as I worked on content and backlinks, they began to get more leads through their contact forms.

However, this didn't seem to correlate with an increase in traffic on Google Analytics.

What metric can I use to show that their website has improved, as it's getting more leads, even though the traffic hasn't increased?

My bad, didn't realise there was a local SEO forum. Still need help with this! :)

Do you have conversion tracking setup in their Google Analytics through goals? You can show them that data.

If you don't have it, you can just collect the data manually (i.e you got 9 contact form submissions over the last 30 days) and put that in their monthly report. Compare it to the last 30 days period and say you got X more.

You can and should setup phone call tracking on their website as well. If you don't want to use a call tracking number, you can track each time their phone number gets clicked through JavaScript.

You can also dive into GoogleMyBusiness > Insights > Actions and show them how many calls they got.

You should be tracking conversions through GA. In my experience clients don't care about traffic if you can show them you're getting more leads, whether it be form submissions, phone calls, etc.

Phone calls can barely be tracked on Google Analytics. You're right in that I should have setup form submissions as a GA conversion though.

Use something like callrail for phone call conversions
