There are some for local guides reviews, don't remember any providing accounts themselves.
As for map editing it is quiet helpful in my opinion, you'll be able to make edits on google maps, add pictures and reviews that could boost the reputation of your business.

Google has renewed its local guides program recently. I used to make many edits before the change. Then I just forgot about it for a while, and decided to apply for the new local guides program. My contributions were still there, and I could see how many points they earned me, so it still works like a charm. I now have three local guides account at level 3 each.
