Hello everyone,

I’ve gotten pretty decent at using Divi and can build a great website in WordPress. I was thinking about holding a seminar in my local town to teach people. My little town has about 70,000 people. How would you do this?

I’m thinking about a Facebook or craigslist ad. Would I just asked everyone to bring their own laptop? But what I do about Internet access? Where would you give something like this that would not charge you a fee for having the seminar? How much would you charge for the class?

I’m thinking about giving a good four hour class. What would you charge and how would you do it?

Thanks for any help.

Interested to see any responses about local live seminars from those who have done similar events.

You *could* always do a webinar targeted for your local market and advertise it as such, via FB ads, CL, etc - tell people the benefits of attending, plus the benefit of learning at home, and consider hosting a meet up at a coffee shop or something after for a live Q&A in person (I'm sure it'd be easy to get a local shop interested, means more business for them) - and post that predominantly in the ads ("Take notes and write down questions and we can discuss in person over coffee afterwords," etc). Just thinking aloud here, but you've got my mind going on some ideas lol.

Live seminars seem to be very strong at the moment, from good ol’ MLM (Lmfao) to E- commerce, IM, Real Estate you name it

Here in the Los Angles there are a lot of “pro-claimed” gurus hosting seminars.

I have been getting flooded with these ads on FB and YT. All with the same punchline “ Tired of being broke and having no freedom”

Being that you are dealing with teaching a skill, not pitching a program. I would say it’s a great idea!

As for as pricing goes I’ve seen 3 hour classes go for as low as about $200

Organizing yourself would not be the issue. It’s straight forward to rent a conference room, and set up amenities.

Targeting for your ads is where the issue lies.

You need to target tech savvy individuals/freelancers in your local area. Perhaps do some crawling on linkedin? Could be a good place to start.

I will say keep this seminar free for some time and try to distribute goodies & eatables among the audience who attends you seminar. Also meetup.com is a good one to promote local seminars. Tell them to bring their own laptop, and arrange a good projector for those who are unable to bring laptop. Yeah, webinars are the good one. Without much hassle you can attract audience. I would say, attend some local seminars to your town and see what they are offering.

People don't want to attend paid seminar at first, but you can try though.

"Learn how to build your own website. 4 hour seminar this Saturday. Bring your laptop. Wifi provided (not sure how yet, Hotspot my and wife's iPhone?). $200/person, limited seating so RSVP/Pre-pay required. Sign up at LocalDiviSeminar.com. Be prepared to buy hosting and domain package at seminar separately $~80. I will walk you through hosting setup, domain name purchase and complete Divi website build"

Find somewhere big enough to accommodate 10 people. Must have large TV for me to HDMI my laptop to for display.

With my Elegant Theme membership, download latest Divi and distribute on thumb drives. Or give out hulled themes.

Have affiliate set up with hosting company and Elegant Themes for profit from site purchase and profit if they upgrade Divi.

10 people x $200 registration = $2000
10 people x $10 hosting affiliate = 100
5 buy WP Elegant Theme upgrade x $15 =75
------//------
Total =$2175
