Little scared to "pull the trigger" on my first MNS, need an experienced push

You are doing fine. You did it all right, and now you will see if it is a success. The nuber two for the SERP may be a result of dumb luck, meaning spot on keyword research and on page SEO. Google will give the best result for any search, even if they are poor choices. Every once in a while you find a buying keyword that no one has done their SEO correct for, it is ranking for a broad search, but the SEO is off for phrase or exact. This still makes it the best choice for google to put there, until something better comes along. You site is something better, as far as getting Google to understand what your site is about. This also explains why you are number 1 for exact search. Let it ride, this site can make you money for a long time, if Google doesn't algo you out for some reason, they are down on MNS's somewhat.

OK, so I've been doing some reading / researcs here on BHW, and I'm wondering what some of you might have to say about the service Synnd provides. Experiences? I've set up an account (free for now) and have been going through all their training videos and tutorials. It SEEMS like a good backlink building service, and since I plan to keep this MNS going for the long haul, the free account should suffice for now (dribble feeding backlinks seems better that a mass attack for legitimacy's sake).

I'm also signing up for forums and blogs in my niche and building up to being able to post backlinks in sigs and comments.

I'm also thinking of spinning some of the reviews I've done so far and submitting them to article sites.

Also, would there be any benefit to having outbound links to similar (not entirely the same niche) sites?

As it stands, so far I'm actually getting organic search visitors already (not many, but some is better than none), and the search's bringing them in are on variations of my main KW. Cool.

As always, thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks all!

J

Small update, I've been checking Google analytics, and the average bounce rate so far is about 38%, not bad I guess.

So, I've been doing a fair amount of work with backlinking, and so far one of my main keywords is a position 19 (2nd page) in google, so not bad. Organic traffic is increasing a little each day, so that's good too. I'm hoping in a few days to have at least one of my keywords on page 1 (main keyword would be nice). No conversions on the site yet, but about %50 of the visitors are clicking through to the affiliate products. Bounce rate is still low. Gonna add a few more pages to the site in the next few days and see what happens.

Well, it's been about 4 months since I set this site up. In that 4 months, I've not touched anything - no WP updates, no nothing, except for a very slight edit in the text a few weeks ago based on what WP was reporting for search keywords driving traffic. I get about 40-60 hits per day, not a lot of traffic at all. My main keyword comes up on page 5 in a Google search, but my main keyword plus "online" (keywordONLINE), which is also the domain name, comes in at #1. A few other variations on the keyword come up on page one. Basically, time has helped move the site up. The niche is about as micro as micro gets, so I can't complain about the traffic.

The best part - since starting the site 4 months ago, the commissions have added up to about $200. Not a lot, I know, but the majority of that money has been earned in the last month.

Going to do some work on the site over the next week or 2 in between my regular job and school. Will update if/when there is any new info.

Since my last post on the 24th (8 days) another $54 in commissions have posted. Nice.

From Feb. 2nd until now (Feb 8th PM), another $50. Average so far, for the last month, is about the same ($50/week).

I'd like to turn this thread into a "journey" type thread. How do I do that?

From Feb 9th to now (Feb 11 PM), another $28 in commissions. Averaging almost $10 per day, nice ;)

From Feb 12th to today (Feb 19th), another $104 in commissions. Average of almost $15 per day. Excellent :)

Nice! And what about your keywords ranking?

In case you're not already convinced by the response you've gotten so far: FULL STEAM AHEAD!

You've setup your plan and you seem to know where you're going.

Keep us posted and know that we're pulling for you!

Im interested to know how you did your linkbuilding, how active are you on those forums you said you have signed up...Anyway good work and just keep up.

as of today, my main keyword only ranks at #21 on Google, not listed in Yahoo or Bing. My secondary keyword ranks at #7 in Yahoo, #4 in Bing, and not at all in Google. As far as link building, nothing really done with that. Traffic all seems to be organic, search traffic.

I haven't added or changed anything on the site in a few months now, and am earning between $200 and $250 per month. Traffic seems to average to about 60-90 visits per day.

After taking notes on exactly how I set this site (a roadmap so to speak), I'm looking for another product to promote. Something a little more "mainstream" than what this site is doing. My current product is about as "micro" a MNS can get.
