Linux VPS only? Keeping the costs low

Hey guys,
So recently, I decided to move to Linux VPS with a much better spec (6 CPU cores, 600GB diskspace, and 16GB RAM) than my Shared hosting with Hostkoala. Now I'm kind of happier.

Why I moved from Windows VPS to Linux:

I was under-utilizing my Window server. Meaning I run Scrapebox maybe once on three months, not for SEO but its name generator etc.

I don't really use SendBlaster and Traffic bots like I used to do few years back. I could as well install Mailwizz or Interspire on Linux and keep the server costs even lower.

I never used Linux before so I am open to learning as much as I can.

I was paying $16/month for the fucking Window VPS (3GB RAM, 100GB disk space, 2 CPU core) without even using it to its full potential. That's almost $200 a year. Plus I also used to pay Hostkoala some 50usd per year for their enterprise plan, shared hosting on top of that.

Soo...I took the plunge and transferred Scrapebox and SendBlaster to my local PC and I ditched shared hosting + Windows VPS altogether due to my recent Autoblogging journey. Now what? If I ever have to run Windows on the cloud again, it'd be better off paying a few dollars (some 50usd) per year for RDP instead.

Fck! Why am I just realizing this? I know some guys here are super richer than I am. But how much are you guys spending on hosting per year? Do you simply use Linux only? Or do you also run Windows server or RDP alongside Linux? Can you entirely ditch Windows and how does it affect your workflow?

What's your take?

Linux is more than enough for servers, just spin a win box when you need it

Fun fact: get the cheapest linux server you can find, and install phpVirtualBox on it.
You'll create all the RDPs you want.

So this sound like what is called virtualization. Right? Assuming I am right, I am with Contabo, do you have any experience with them regarding using phoVirtualBix on their Linux server? Hope they won't kick me out.

If you ask me, I would say that Linux is the only choice as a server operation system. It has high performance, flexibility and features.

Try X2Go, it works great on Linux and Windows as a client.

Webdock.io. i use it myself.

X2Go looks super promising as a client. Not really a fan of VNC. So I will try it out.
