I just made the switch to a new flavor of Linux!

What about it works well for you?
I like the speed of it, for sure.
I like that it's Debian-based (by way of Ubuntu), which is what I'm most familiar with, though I almost went with RebornOS to take a spin on Arch for a spin.
KDE Plasma is my favorite and so I felt right at home with it in that regard, but just from taking a quick peek at their XFCE, you'd immediately notice just how much the devs care about this OS.
It seems very stable. No hiccups, and that is something I can appreciate. I ordered a laptop from Amazon. As soon as it arrived, I immediately deleted Windows 11 and installed this OS.
Idk.. I just like it.

its the best OS for most programming work

I wouldn't recommend it to my parents though. basic stuff like printing or installing a new browser can be a bit complicated sometimes.

I like the idea of linux its open source and all but why would someone actually use it if hardly anyone needs complete excessive control of their os in that way and it has poor software compatibility, nice background though.

You'd be surprised. There are some distros that offer a much easier experience than Microsoft Windows / MacOS.
ZorinOS, for example. Linux Mint is another.
Linux is sexy, indeed. Nice background ;)
Thank you. :)

Linux is only about "excessive control" of your OS if you want it to be.
It's about far more than that. It's not even about that if you don't care for it to be. There are distros for everyone.
Check this out:
..and this, if you would like to get your hands dirty (as an example):

Also, this may be worth a quick read:

I used Elementary OS, Ubuntu & Zorin OS in my personal computer some years and was a great experience. Unfortunately, i need some Windows programas to work and now i am using Windows.

But i have to say that i prefer Linux. There are more difficult installing programs sometime, but the simplicity, performance, design, security, and many other things make Linux a better option.

I am still using Linux in some old PCs and feels great :)

Everything, I guess? Linux may not be the best desktop os, but when it comes to servers, nothing beats it. There is no other os which can run a server with 512mb ram. Hats off to Linux!

well not really, try FreeBSD ;) its faster than linux.

yep as server its a great OS. i use it on a few security critical servers as its also by default more security oriented than linux.
many things you first have to allow and it warns you of all kinds of security issues. it also has some nice settings for hardening the kernel.
you can also make logfiles undeletable even for the root user.

I tried Linux 10 years ago and deleted all my content mistakenly in just one minute. Since then I have not yet tried Linux.

It's good for hosting.

Guys, please don't do this ^.
Also, make sure you use Timeshift and save at least one recent backup on an external.
