Hello, i searched a bit on this forums and i wonder why all tools are for windows... are there any linux bots ?

The most simple answer is that most people use windows. And on the other hand most tools can be emulated in nix.

hmm okay - there is not even one ? hehe

currently i look for a simple tool which allows me mass account creation (catcha shows up and i enter the captcha) is there anything like this ?

You ask too much... most people here need tutorials for scrapebox and xrumer... imagine them having to play with conf files and remember command arguments?! lol doubt it.

linux is for power users and probably those people write their own bots

I beg to differ. Flash player crawls. With 2 youtube videos at the same time you get 100% CPU load. Does not support 3 monitors on 2 video cards (my setup and main reason why i'm not on linux). Most programs are just usable but ugly as hell (except OOo which is nice). OOo crawls if you make a spreadsheet with thousands of rows. The file explorer was designed by a drunken monkey. Every time you install something you will end up reading 10 man pages and doing 30 google searches and finally 100 trial and error changes to a conf file.

For security reasons I would have switched to linux if it was decent. It is not. For me personally it sucks big time. Great as a server (because I have learned it) but sucks as desktop. As a matter of fact I find it more elegant to work 100% in putty on my linux home server than in Gnome/KDE.

In a way linux is like PHP... kinda retarded, ugly, swears a lot, does everything you want just not the way you want it.

Just my 2c, not trying to start a win vs linux war (I still like XP more than 7 but I have 8GB RAM so I'm stuck with 7).

hehehe xD you know a bot for linux? or a bot framework which i can use to code my own bot ?

Perl, Python, PHP, Ruby, Java, etc. Who would develop a web bot framework for linux? There's no money there.

Trust me, learn a programming language and u will never touch commercial SEO software.

ho - ho - ho :D

Not so many people here being involved in the more advanced technical stuff. Most are as a foreposter mentioned overwhelmed by SB and XR. Some do a little php and are hacking their wordpress installation. That's it. (And no prob or critics, this is a IM forum, yes).

If I were a commercial bot coder, I would never ever think about linux. But I am doing that (==linux, java, bots, database stuff) only for my own purposes and my only client is very happy with me.

If you code in .NET and your code uses no webbrowser or native API calls, you can use mono to convert it to Mac and Linux.

Linux is a tool like Windows... It has it`s advantages and it`s minuses.
Right now I am using Debian with Gnome as a windows manager.
I am using Linux since 2003, I went back to Windows a few times, but this year I have only started Windoze a few times.
The flash player gives you troubles on Windoze too, but lately it does not give me too much trouble on Linux.
I do not have to scan the files for viruses anymore...
LINUX IS NOT FOR GIRLS, I AGREE.

Try to use the latest , testing version, of Wine if you have problems with software not running. :)

yea wine works really well with openSUSE but other forms of linux canbe tricky be prepared to do some searching it took a while for me to get it to work with ubuntu

Yea i also found this thread and think we need to talk more about it.

How is the linux bots coded ? Does they require any special kind of language ?
