Linkwheels - Post Your Successes and Failures Here!

I am interested in how this is viewed in terms of white / grey hat.

Is it viewed as unethical linking structures? Probably.

What would be a white hat equivalent? Would it be building web 2.0 properties then not interlinking them with 100% unique content i.e. just for the link. For a while some considered white / grey hat if the content was very high quality. More and more ppl are considering this black.

This is a great thread I seem to have heard a lot of deindex stories with link wheels just recently. I am p1ssed I knew about these a very long time ago. It seems to have become more difficult to do now because a lot more people know and are using them.

I find more and more domain ages are becoming a strong factor and it may be smart to set some of these up leave for a while then interlink / promote etc.

:)

Would interlinking link wheels into 1 bigger link wheel work? Assuming that your going to try to attack multiple key words with each link wheel and interlink them into lets call it a "master link wheel". This would be the bigger wheel that pulls all the traffic from the smaller link wheels and points to your money site.

I dot join the linkwheels to each other, however I have built a secondary linkwheel around a spoke in one linkwheel using the same keyword. That helps to rank that spoke (squidoo) higher.

Have a read of Lemonsuace PDF about linkwheels. he explains thing well

So this is my thought. Not sure if its possible or even a smart move to do this. Essentially what is happening, is each link wheel will attack 1 key word and funnel all the traffic from the web 2.0 properties to the hub page for that link wheel. This hub page will link to the other hub pages in a separate link wheel and also to the money site.

What are your thoughts? Just trying to learn by some trial and error. Figured I would ask the more experienced folks.

By connects link wheel to link wheel, I mean hub page to hub page. Each hub page is its own link wheel for 1 keyword. Not sure if this is smart or just retarded? Either way just wanted to get some feedback.

I would guess that linking the wheels will make google figure out that each wheel is created by the same person and so ban their ass! But thats just me.

I make all my wheels independent

A few months ago, perhaps even as early as 2008, Blackhatzen had a great thread on Linkwheels. Long story short: don't make link/wheels/, just chains with mini-wheels in them. Have them hook up at different points etc.

Another thread showed better web properties to use, such as Y!A and YouTube. You should try to find that one too, as it showed a lot of useful information on keyword research.

I do strictly Y!A atm though.

I would really like to see this.

@botwiz if you think about it working in a such a structured way leaves footprints. If not careful you could experience a lot of linkwheels going down at the same time. I remember one of the mods recommending randomising stuff like this as much as poss e.g. linking differently, not linking some, using different properties, different numbers of sites etc. etc.

I am considering coming up with a basic structure then mix it up a lot. Mixing social media / bookmarking etc. sounds good too.

:)

That's why you have to mix it up a little, build a half link wheel or build something close to link wheel but not really.

In my experience its better to build one link wheel and build link wheels/links around that link wheel. Then to keep building link wheels/links to the same page, because one powerful link can do a lot more then most people think.

Are you using different IP's to hook up with your web 2.0 properties and different email addresses for tagging?

It seems all from the same IP could be a problem.

why would you say that?

I dunno why it could be a problem, why would wordpress share information with livejournal, vox, etc ? As long as you don't register multiple accounts on the same property with the same ip/mail you should be safe ?

I found this diagram that i would be useful for noobs like my self in the link wheel creation process. I'm still getting my head around all this and finally getting a better understanding. Just something from the famous link wheel creator made. Hope it helps.

Gmail only asks for phone verification if you try and make more than 1 account per day. It's asked me a few times, just wait a day and it's back to normal. You could also try clearing cookies. If not, just use yahoo.

Clicking back to the signup form, "accidentally" submitting it with the wrong captcha, and then submitting it again correctly will also allow you to avoid the phone verification prompt.

@above.

shhhhhh...
Don't let n00bs fond out (let them keep buying accounts)

guys i would like your thoughts on this:

i hava a greek site on psychology.
I have downloaded many articles on psych, and related fields. ALL articles are in ENGLISH

Should i create a linkwheel with english articles or should i translate them into greek?

It is my understanding that you wont get any traffic from the articles. Rather the linkwheel will boost YOUR DOMAIN into first place.

Thanks guys

I have just watched a video on Senuke saying that you should create you link wheel very slowly during a period of two weeks and not to do everything on the same time or day .. what you think about this .. and what about you are you creating your link wheel on a spot with pinging and bookmarking ?

Listen . . .

We run the largest link wheel service on the internet so I have been watching this thread and decided to chime in.

Here are the key factors to making a link wheel a success.

#1 - NO SPUN CONTENT, . . . Content is King so you have to place your focus on providing search engines with quality content.

#2 - Updating the properties more than 1 time adds HUGE benefits. People will say that a link wheel is an easy target because of a particular linking strategy (and I agree), but profiles with 1 post are even more suspect.

#3 - Link wheel development is less about the linking strategy than it is about creating relevant articles (content) that link to your site.

The linking strategy is not as critical as you might think, but the proper deployment of the web 2.0 properties is what is key.
