Hey Everyone,

Today I rceived this email from Linus (Lemonarian) regarding the use of the Linkwheel strategy:

Hi everyone...

Since I discovered the LinkWheel methodology back in February 2009,
a lot has changed.

It's not nearly as effective. When I released the report, it
quickly became viral and everyone and their grandmother was doing
LinkWheels left and right... a lot of people made money.

Now, it seems Google's caught on.

So I recommend you STOP doing perfect wheels and start mixing it up.

The real power comes from interlinking the web properties. There's
nothing magical about the "wheel" structure. That's really just a
name.

The power, as I said, is in interlinking them.

So mix it up as much as you can at all times.

Remember not to do reciprocal links.

In closing, here's an example of how you could "mix it up":

Also notice that I never "close" a wheel.

And oh, if you blatantly copy that... well that might not be the
best idea, since a couple thousand other people is getting this
email.

MIX IT UP!

The principle is still valid, just try to leave as little
footprints as possible.

Stay cool,
Linus

best that works is create one campaign for each web 2.0 treat it like its own website no interlinking needed and things will rocket up

I think lemonarians method got way saturated but there are plenty of spin-offs - as you said, leaving a spoke open, linking to other linkwheels which link to high PR articles...You need to get much more involved than building just a linkwheel. But who knows...the game's always changing and so do we.

Same as everything. People need to vary the way they do things even if they're copying it. Quite a few people have already been leaving wheels open so they don't leave as much of a footprint.

Linkwheels seem to be getting tougher lately. The main issue seems to be indexing.

However, I had a slam-dunk about 3 weeks ago with a 12 site wheel. I even closed it, just randomly. Now it's doing very well.

I am unfamiliar with the term "footprints"

can anybody explain?

oh and about linkwheels. As rossb1 said there is nothing magical about the linkwheel meaning the "wheel" itself. The reason you rank highly with a linkwheel is because you get high pr backlinks from other web 2.0 properties. In fact the spider gets crawlcrazy from indexing various sites that all point to other sites that point to the money page.(hope that made sense)

so does this mean like every other good idea it has been run into the ground...of coarse it does.. we have to change that's just common sense. hope the new guys are paying attention so they don't kill every method by doing it without a different spin on things.

OK, may I DumbHat SEOs to those who really copied his link structure and not mixing it up?

Its really a pain when someone so brilliant shared his/her methods and here comes those dummies who really copied everything without using their heads.

Now, there are WhiteHat, BlackHat, GrayHat, BlueHat, and even DumbHat SEOs in the industry.

The first "linkwheel" aka webring was made 15 years ago, it's still alive today although with a few broken spokes.

Code:
http://foldoc.org/europa.html

It's been done for decades, it used to be very effective until about 04 when Google clamped down on it. Sure it will work today to some extent with mixed results, but there's betters ways to artificially interlink.

I am doing my first linkwheel by hand so i can learn this. What program can i use or how can i get a chart to keep track of what i have going where. I am using a text file and excel and i think i am more confused with it. I tried drawing one in paint but i am not an artist. Is there a blank chart somewhere to all i have to do is fill in the blanks or what is the best way of charting.?

I reckon link wheeling is one good way to boost ranking. A month back i was hired by a SEO company to rank for a very competitive keyword. Donna y :dontknow:, they said it is impossible to rank. At the same time they (5 individuals) were targeting a keyword which was less competitive than that of given to me. They were working on their keyword for nearly 4 months.

I specified them what On-page optimisation i required. The page given to me at start ranked at 786 position and within 3 weeks brought it to 15. This i achieved through profile linking and about 6 link wheels..

I could never in a million years copy that... it takes way too many brain cells.

Thanks for the update... you are owed a cold beer.

ok this is what i did so far lol takes a long time by hand but part or the learning process. Will hire out later for more. Do not know if i am doing this the right way. Are you suppose to send a new article to every site or change it after 2 or 3 uses?

mainsite > another wordpress site (article1) & livejournal (no article as of yet) links to Blogspot ( article #2) links to mainsite & wetpaint site (no article yet) links to mainsite & wikispaces (no article yet)

can i use the same article in 2 or 3 locations then switch to another article ? Or better for a new article per every site ? I need a chart making tool to keep track of all this crap lol.

It's good to be natural as many SEOs will agree that doing anything perfectly is to obvious and at the same time you don't want to do a crappy job. Having links from multiple sources in good quantities and high quality will always be best for a long term strategy.

Then again, if you are just pumping out sites like crazy then you can get away with short term stuff like making quick link wheels, getting ranks, making quick cash, etc. That's not the way I roll, but each to his own. Link wheels are great, just ordered some today off the forum in fact, but have multiple link sources not just one perfect looking wheel.
