My truck today requires no key to start. Toggle switch and push button. Never lock it either. I do have a hidden toggle switch though...:eek:

Ok now for the update. Google about the same maybe a little worse but the big surprise is Bing. Next round of pushes has started.

Google only has 60-70% of the traffic. Why would you neglect 30-40% of your potential customers? With Bing now powering Yahoo there is traffic coming to the site from those 2. I am also getting traffic from ask etc.

No I was not targeting Bing Specifically but I was not going to neglect that traffic source either.

You know, I keep seeing people say that and I have 2 other sites plus several customers of mine that say they are wrong. Now I do a lot of other things for my customers other than linkpushing but the pushes get them moving in the first place.

If I have a site that does not move, one thing I go and recheck is the onpage seo and I find that I can improve it with density or adding H tags in the body of the article.

I have also seen some really horrible pages that Google would not rank with a human intervention.
 
nice thread, but i wonder what exactly is linkpushing? I know there is a user who sells the linkpushing for BHW member. But what exactly happens that the links to your site get pushed??
Can you do it yourself without buying "pushes" from the Linkpushing service?
It sound like you write a few articles and spin them. They are on web 2.0 sites and link to your site. So do you write an article for the article for your site or what does that "pushing" mean ?
Hope you can help me out. If its gonna work then I have to give it a try.
 
With the problems that SeScout was havine last week I forgot all about this. I am getting ready to head out the door so I don't have time to grab the screen shots and upload them but here goes.

15 keywords ranking and all are under 500 lowest being 69 and highest 426.

3 - top 100
7 - in the 100's
3 - in the 200's
2 - in the 400's

Did you change your backlink strategy to deeplinking? Or did you stick to only "blast" your main url?
 
I have ranked quite a few forums but I always start them as autoblogs using wp-o-matic to bring in rss feeds. It works a treat. I do this for about 3-6 months and then convert it to a forum. I remove the blog completely and 301 redirect to front page of forum from the pages that are no longer there. This can easily be done in your .htaccess file.

I understand that this has nothing to with this test but I thought it might be helpful for someone who wants to start a forum in the future.

If you read through the thread you would have the answer to that question. It's not that far back and I did post when I changed. I actually posted several times that I was leaning that way.
 
As much as this was a great case study, the lack of deep linking at the start was always going to be an issue.

However as you said this was an experiment and the main thing that I got from the whole thread, is that an insane number of LP's didn't affect the site adversely. This gives me confidence to try and go harder with my linkpushes in the future.
 
Just wanted to give you a final update. It has been almost a month since the last push so we did 200 pushes a month for 2 months. I have 57 keyword ranking under 500 right now. The forum only has 1200 posts on it. The lowest ranking is 17 and the highest is 487.

The part that surprised me last night, the forum is now a PR1!

Conclusions.

1. Linkpushing will not hurt your rankings.
2. Linkpushing can and will not help poor quality or low content.
3. Linkpushing does work if you have the right combination of onsite content, seo etc.

Don't be afraid to use this service.
 
Remember me for criticizing your thread as marketing? Turns out your conclusion does not sound like markting, but like a reasonable result. Taking into consideration what you already mentioned, poor content/onpage seo.

I guess link pushing does only make sense if you have not only great onpage seo and content, but also a keyword that justifies the cost of the service, that convert good for good paying cpa/affiliate programs, or really high traffic keywords for adsense...

thanks for the honesty, and sorry if I pissed you off back then - I'm just too cautious. :)
