LinkBuilding Strategy After Penguin Update

I know my post is kinda long, but I just thought more explanations on why I'm doing the strategy would help newbies or anyone interested in PBNs. Glad you liked it enough to read it. Thanks.

Great post. It's interesting that i just thought about the same strategy and i'm working on creating a PBN for my local markets, i will do it a bit differently but i'm glad i was not the only one that thought about creating individual social media pages for each website and engaging the public like they were "real" sites.

Good luck and do share your success after it is done! Yeah i think the emphasis of making it as real & natural as possible is basically the trick to safety. Which is something most marketplace sellers don't want to pay for due to the costs involved.

I started such strategy a year ago, I got about 40 pbn natural sites (expiring domains, high TF, no spam links), put on different servers (no SEO hostings), with hidden whois data, put content on them similar to my niche and then linked to my webpage from articles, sidebars, images with my main keywords in different configurations and I must tell you: unfertunatelly I haven't found such big impact and grow in rankings. My keywords are the English ones, but the niche is not a high competitive (it is not very low too). I have also many good backlinks from another sites and: before my PBN I was 30-60, after my PBH links launched: I am 30-60 in SERPS ;) well done.

Could be a few things why you didn't rank well:

1) Bad anchor text ratios due to PBNs all using exact matches.

2) Lack of diversified links

3) RD and ref subnets were low

4) OBL of sites were not controlled properly

5) You simply repurposed the sites even though it wasn't from your niche. An old domain about cars being repurposed to link out to a Food/Nutrition blog wouldn't work.

6) Domain history. Could have been penalized or spammed previously for "no go" niches like payday loans or "your money your life" niches

7) Money site content and on page factors not optimized properly

I personally have experience with finding one single domain with TF 30 which was exactly in my niche...but it had no powerful links from CNN or Huffington Post and w tv else. The RD was just 30ish.

I kept the original design, put up content and fixed OBL to 5. My rank went from 90+ to page 2 in about two weeks. With just ONE link.

My point is trial & error helps us learn why shit don't work. Don't be discouraged, go and analyse why it failed if you still have that network.

I just searched for one of the most expensive search terms in a foreign language. It's related to movie downloads.

The #1 to #3 results are a PBN, owned by the same people. All domains with fake names and hosted where DMCA is ignored.

This is the almighty high quality Google update the guru blogs have been rallying about.

If you do everything 100% white hat you get beat by this sort of thing.

By the time Google gets to this PBN the domains are 8 years old, so they've made enough money by now.

This is the reality of the WWW with Google playing link Sheriff.

I took care of all those points above, only difference is that sometimes I exchanged the content to my niche. Do you think it is better to put a content about cars on a page that was about cars and put there a link to completely different niche rather than put a content there related to your niche and then a link?

Yes it is pretty rampant in many niches. Which is why I'm not concerned about ethics, I just want to rank and make money without being trampled by the big players.

I think you missed out the whole point of my post which was to demonstrate WHY I picked up other topicals like news and construction even though I'm in health&beauty niche.

You can't just slap an article on a car site that is linked out to a site about floral arrangements or whatever. You have to create an angle as to why that niche would be talking about a totally unrelated niche. Just like how I explained under the 'business/directories' and 'business/construction' topical domains.

That's what I knew would be useful to share because a lot of people just think its ok to get a post on a blog with high metrics. Look at my post history, do you know how much I have spent on the marketplace services to experiment and learn?

You wrote your first post yesterday and you are writing about your plans: Are you sure you strategy will work? You might say I made a mistake in some of my PBN sites (in some, because in other I I did as you write), but it does not explain why there are completetly no results. In my opinion if you buy 40 expired domains, even with good TF/CF, with RD30+ and make all those angles you write, your rankings will not jump so much. From my humble observations, you need at least 100 PBN sites in order to really go to 1-3# in most niches, which are profitable (so not very low competition niches). Of course I don't know your niche and you don't know mine, so my thoughts are general, but I want to show you my point.

Just because its my first post, it doesn't mean i'm New. I been stalking BHW way before CEO Sam appeared. Just because I don't post, it doesn't mean i don't know what i'm doing.

I have SEO clients from 9 years ago all still with me til now in various niches like interior design, foreign property , investment, ecommerce and even local businesses that depend on daily leads (much like my own health niche).

I have built my own network before, and I have used nearly every reputable seller's pbn's on BHW.

The whole point of the post is changing strategies to keep up with new difficulties put in place by Google. You can choose to believe what i shared and posted or not, that's up to you. I shared to help others see why doing things like how you did won't work anymore, and those who cannot accept change are usually the ones left behind.

I am not saying that you are new. I am saying that you wrote yesterday your initial post in this topic with your plans and mentioned 40 pbn sites as enought number to be 1-3#. I agree with all what you wrote but from my experience 40 average expired domains not 100% related to your niche is not enough to make 1-3# in average niche.

Dude, if you read closely...you would see that my sites are already on page one with some keywords on page two. I don't need 100 Domains...maybe just 10 to rank. The rest are to improve influencer blog's trust flow, create natural looking diversity and to push juice thru web2.0s.

Notice I only used the TF metrics? That's because I'm banking on trust being the best metric for ranking. Making my sites trustworthy with links from legit looking sites using high quality content that is themed or consistent with the original topical of the PBN, social signals and traffic is just the off page campaign.

On page, every site I created for my clients has at least 50 articles in a silo to create topical relevancy. That shit does 40% of the work already.

On page factors like formatting the long copy embedded with LSI, alt image tags, site speed, geo tagging, schema mark ups etc etc are all the foundation's I built before i even think about link building.

If you don't have a good foundation, 500 PBN sites with the best metrics you can buy won't rank you.

I like the way you're thinking OP, the context around your PBNs will make them more powerful in the future.

hi mate, your clustering method is like what Darryl Rooser ' s post, his blog is LionZeal if i remember exactly..
this is not specific strategy to avoid penguin slap..
unless, you mention about anchor, content, and another quality parameter here...
just my humble opinion,.. :)

I never ever read anything or heard of that guy before. But what I meant by cluster is simply another network that is only used to link out to web2.0s and not to money sites.

If any problems arises, I simply change the web2.0s content or remove the link from the cluster network.

Can you elaborate about the AVG Ratio for incoming links?

Is there a link diversity ratio?

It's more so just thinking. But you have to keep in mind that Google employs hundreds of engineers, a lot of them smarter than you or me. They've thought of everything. This is how over use of anchor text came around, and why we use a low exact match anchor text, and a lot more branding and naked URLs. You look at a legit white hat authority site and their main keyword is probably used 10% of the time, if that. Few years ago you go to a blackhat site and the main keyword was used 50% of the time, if not more. And I'm sure the same can be done about home page links vs inner page links. The truth is sites will have very few homepage links linking in. So one day, if not already, sites will be flagged when there are an abnormally high number of incoming links coming from the front page of other sites.

am sorry, i didnt judge you,
just saying.. :)
