I have a site that is doing pretty well, but I want to rank it for some additional keywords. Haven't done any link wheeling, but heard from others that it works. What does everyone here say? Does it work?

i disagree. It can work if used in the right way. I use it for indexing and a PR boost to Tier 1 sites.

I've found that link wheel's with intentional footprints still work, though it's a little bit more complicated and I often use page authority filters on my sites that work (ie: instead of linking directly to an article with profiles/ traditional angela and paul links, I link those to user account pages on the site which in term link to the money articles).

It's all about trying to make it look as organic as possible, nothing wrong with syndicating content with link wheels as long as it doesn't look deliberate.

It works if done right. The original version of linkwheeling definitely doesn't work anymore. It really is an enormous footprint. But more creative versions of linkwheeling can still work really well.

Instead of having your pages all link to one another, you need to have a good amount of external links as well. Link to sites like Wikipedia, as well as real resources in your industry. Your sites shouldn't all link to one another. To Google, it should look like a random assortment of sites, all of whom are linking to other resources, and none of the resources should seem too close together.

For an extra layer of safety, you can link to a Web 2.0 property from about 60% of your sites. Then link to your money site from that Web 2.0 property. Again, that Web 2.0 property should link to maybe 5 different resources, so it's impossible for Google to tell that your money site is profiting from that property.

Do you "lose" a lot of link juice when you're being this careful? Yes - But it's much better than the original linkwheel, which "preserves" your link juice while painting an easy target on your back for Google to hit.

Basic linkwheels (A -> B -> C -> D -> A) do not work nearly as well as they used to. However interlinking that is done in a much more random fashion (and has lots of unrelated outbound links) still works and works really well.

The concept of a 'linkwheel' has changed over the years. If someone tell you that they'll interlink the posts, avoid them like the plague - they don't know what they're doing!
However, getting a network of links from various sites, footprints, platforms etc will always work! Let us know if you'd like help. We have readymade packages to choose from. Cheers :)

I would suggest that you simply use a 3 tier linking system.
