Link Building Through a 301

tony_d,
when you 301 a dropped domain, you don't use content first?
is PR passing without using content?

This is exactly right.

Again - it's quite possibly not a perfect method, and I'm sure one day I'll 'wake up dead', but until then; thank you very much G :)

How do you track the money site received a penalty? Do you use Webmaster tools or you keep away from those?

I recently registered a new domain and redirected it immediately after registration through registrar to money site . I started to make mixed links High PR and Web2.0s etc. It worked and the money site ranked within 10 Days for the main keywords I was targeting.

I have not tested redirection after adding content so more feedbacks will be appreciated.

Can you give some more advice about directing separately for High PR and other spam links? Does it make any difference if you use both types of links on same domain and redirect it to your money site?

I don't think it makes any difference per se to combine spam and high PR on the same 301 source, however, I separate them as a matter of practice so that if my sape links become toxic, I can turn them off without having to discard all my other links too. That's the sole reason behind it :)

Ordinarily I don't put any content on before doing a redirect - it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Hi Tony,

What is the maximum 301 redirects you used?

The number of 301's I've pointed at a money site is in the teens, but I don't know the theoretical or indeed practical 'limit', if that's what you're getting at.

As for penalties, I certainly do not use WMT - but if one has a site that ranks top 3 consistently for months, and then one day disappears to 100+, I suggest that one does not need WMT to know they have been hit with a penalty :)

I love how this thread quickly became tony_d's! Awesome advices from a PRO :)

Now somebody give this guy a blue name ;)

Agreed. Have been following his posts for a while.

He can afford his Blue :D

hey again tony

1. if a money site gets slapped and you re-direct to a new domain, do you just transfer the same content/ template from old domain to new one?

2. are you using whois privacy for all domains too?

thanks

1) Yeah, exactly the same content - I literally just copy the directory and paste it in the new hosting account. The wording of your question is a little unclear as to whether to intend to 301 your slapped site to a new domain - understand that if you do that, the penalty will flow to the new domain too.

2) Indeed, all with domains with privacy.

Thanks for the reply man. I see how my wording was confusing. For the new re-direct, i meant re-pointing the original re-directed domain to the new domain, NOT pointing the penalised domain to the new domain. I hope that makes sense :)

thanks

hi guys, this is really valuable thread for me, I've read it 2 times to make sure I get all the important points you outlined. Thank you tony and other guys here for sharing your experience with community, it's awesome! I decided to take action and try to make some ROI with this method, but before I start I'd like to ask you a couple of questions, hope you don't mind. My plan for now is to buy Speed Rank package, buy new domain and send Speed Rank links to it with 100% exact keyword I want to rank. Then I will get second domain, also fresh registered and build some links with general anchors, naked urls and so on to diversify, so just the way you do. I'll be targeting niches that don't require so huge seo effort, I mean it's low-mid comp, so I will split Speed Rank package, probably the large one into 4-6 fresh domains, (so I will use this one package for like 4-6 different niches). Ok so now the questions:

1. Do you advice to use EMD/PMD with this technique or maybe it's better to get just create some brand name for a domain, to don't be so obvious for google with my ranking plans :P

2. I think that paying for service to diversify my backlinks would weaken my ROI, since I said I will use one Speed Rank package for several websites, so I would also need to get multiple services to diversify and in my current niches I'd like to try it out, I think it would be too big investment. But I own GSA SER, so I could create a lot of backlinks on my own, then again I don't know if this would be ok. You said you get high quality links for exact match and the rest is spam to diversify. To my mind GSA SER would do the job, but I don't know what kind of backlinks those services provide, so maybe it's of a better quality than links SER produces. But again, I don't know if this quality would matter here.

3. When I'll be buying new domains for 301 with Speed Rank, does the domain name matter so much ? I mean if this would be turewo.com (just created random name) then is it ok ? So a name that doesn't mean anything at all. Or from your experience it's better to get PMD or something similar ? And if that wouldn't be possible, then maybe it's still better to create subdomain: bluewidgets.turewo.com (when I target keyword blue widget with Speed Rank) ? I think something random for the name would decrease the chance for the domain (the one that will get 100% exact match links) to get penalized - i know you said those 301 don't get slapped in your experience, but this could eventually happen.

@graz1 ... don't split the speed rank package..... focus all the power on 1 niche that is profitable!

GSA is fine for spam

domain name does not matter.

301 works last time but not this days.
Haha i dont even optimize just do 301 fetch then boom page 2 in secs

@IamNRE thanks for this advice! You see the problem is that I don't have much experience in any high profitable (which usually means high seo comp) niche. I know I won't learn anything if I don't start something new, but again, I haven't tried this ranking method before and I'd like to get into an area that I know with this seo technique, in the area that I know could give me ~ 2k$ in profit in a month. I'm afraid I could fail at providing good user experience in some big niches so that my site wouldn't be convincing or something. My goal is to get money from the strategy I described above and invest the sum I'll earn from it into something bigger as you said, and this time I would be ok with losing all money invested into big niche if i would fail.

first sentence contradict the second, wtf ?

Meh... what ever, water off my back - just saying it might be less powerful if you are diluting the links by doing 301 to different websites.

I wish you good luck, keep us updated.

@IamNRE I appreciate your advice and understand that using large package for a few websites would give each site less power as if I would use it for just one of them, but niches I want to rank for are really easy and I will use use Speed Rank to make sure I'll dominate in them and get results faster. I just think that using even one small package for one niche would be too much, I mean I could get top1 with much less power so buying another package for each niche would simply weaken my ROI as I said before. I think I will grab large package and with promo code I would get 300 links for 227$/month. I would use this for 3 niches, so that every site would get 100 high pr links - each 100 would go to different domain that would be 301 to actual moneysite. If this won't give me enough power to rank then I will grab more links.

IamNRE could you also tell me your opinion about using EMD/PMD for moneysites using this technique ? I don't know if it's maybe better to get something brandable for moneysite name.. don't really know, some advice would be appreciated!

I always think that domain which will be redirected to money page must be first indexed in google to pass juice - If I understand correct it is not right ? I can buy domain, start build links, point to hosting and do 301 to money page ?

No, my money sites are almost all one-page lead capture forms... with a little bit of text top and a chunk at the bottom, below the fold.

The 'other' type of links are totally mixed up and random - if I was trying to rank for dog training, I'd use anchors like "best seat on Boeing 737" and "Car cleaning tips for New Mexico residents"... you get the idea :) Only relevant anchors are the sape ones, all of which are 100% exact match.

Until here I guess you'll create many keyword velocity which is related from your exact match. But I'm wrong.
You make an BIG different keyword to build link to your money sites, and I'll realize that till page 2 here. Why don't use a relevant keyword to build link? What are irrelevant keyword instead will comes down your money sites and their supporters. I often hear that keyword diversity are good for make many keyword to money sites.

~100 sape links for low-mid competition, exact match anchors
~200-300 wikis, articles, blog comments, profiles, doc sites, social signals, etc. NO exact match.
I'll thanks for your this tips, awesome tips :)

but , naturally you can only have one 301.
meaning of 301 = site is moved to new address.

moving 2 sites to one new address looks fishy.

-=-

what if you was an international / large national retailer and you had lots of small domains that are now now longer in use but contain very valuable links. You would 301 these to the new much larger updated corporate website that no longer uses an old fashioned infrastructure.

In this scenario you have a lot of 301's pointing to a new domain, fishy?

I think prab meant that you can only do a 301 once at any given time... Ie it can only 301 to one domain at a time.

Though, your answer goes to what I think is a common misconception too - I think plenty of people think that you can only, for some mysterious and magical reason, only have 1 301 pointing back at your money site... which is, as you suggested, simply not the case. If you however bought 16,482 dropped domains and 301'd them to your money site, you might create an issue.

Great informations tony_d. Can 301 domains for link juice and money page be on the same hosting ?
