I found the following strategy in a video on youtube for new sites.

Week 1 Create Article Backlinks then ping these links and use linklicious to index them.
Week 2 Yahoo Directory then ping these links and use linklicious to index them.
Weel 3 Create Profile Backlinks - then ping these links and use linklicious to index them.

My question is are Directories and Profiles actually backlinks to your site, I've brought some Profiles before and they are indexed by google but never actually give me a backlink or any link juice, I'm just wondering what the point of Profiles are? yes I'm a total SEO newb :)

I've not tested Directories yet so not sure if these are counted as backlinks or what their value is. Articles have worked really well so far for me and social media sites.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

while i dont disagree with most link building strategies, except the spam blasts that usually never work and can get your sites de indexed... i do want to add that seo strategies aren't very static... that is, you gotta find and make one that's good for your niche. that's just my theory anyway. lol, we're all trying to beat panda anyway, white hat or black hat. here's a recent post that i think you might find useful:

Thanks CD, do you know the value of Profiles and Directories?
 
Profile backlinks have been devalued many Panda updates ago.

As for directory links, it is still a link but a directory site usually have hundreds or less than a hundred OBLs in a single page which means that the link distribution per page would probably lower down the link juice being passed. This is the reason why I would only get a blast for directory links (for diversity and for unique domains) and then never to do that again for that site.

Thanks Veheme, you may not want to share this so please feel free to ignore me.. But for a new site what would be your plan for link building, e.g. Week 1, Week 2, Week 3 ?
 
It is just a link lies there, not something special. It is the best part if the google just indexes it.
 
I like to use the following outline for new sites.
Week 1: Create 150-200 social bookmarks manually (Either do this yourself or have someone create them for you.) I've found the best results with manually created social bookmarks.
- Order a few articles for article networks so that they are ready for next week.
Week 2: Submit your articles to article directories with a link back to your site. I'm personally a fan of Unique Article Wizard as I've had constantly great results with it for a couple years now and have not seen a site slapped yet.
Week 3: Do some guest postings on high PR blogs, or post 5-10 articles per keyword phrase on private blog networks, either through special offers here, or a service like Linkvana.
- I normally also like to make a mild linkwheel in SENuke at this point using Social Networks, Article sites, Social Bookmarks and maybe even some Web 2.0 profiles. For content just use one of your article network articles and spin it through SENuke.

Repeat this process on a monthly basis and you should have pretty good results. Of course, more is always better and there's lots more you can do, this is just the basics that work right now.

On week 1, I like to blast no follow links or social links to it. Manual high PR social bookmarks can help too. I would also add in PR2+ directory submissions since they will take a long time to get approved and they get approve separately.
 
the truth is in the pudding, the greatest risk u can ever take in seo is not taking one at all.

SENuke is more costlier tool which i can't afford for seo but its worth i know do you have any ideas how SErobot is:confused:
 
How much is SENuke and is it worth it? I've heard it's dated?
 
senuke is 147/mo. serobot is the poor man's nuke -- not nearly as robust or user friendly, but it's only 19/mo
 
Blog posting, forum posting, blog commenting are very usefull techniques of seo for getting traffic for site as well as SMO(social media optimization) is also very popular way for driving traffic to site through social networking sites like facebook, twitter etc.

Completely agree with you. After Google penguin you need to be more genuine and natural in link building.
 
Avoid Spammy links.
Post quality content on your website.
Build natural links of quality which should be relevant to your niche.

also try:
Social Bookmarking
Guest Blogging
Blog Comments (relevant to your niche)
Web Directories with good PR (relevant)
Press Releases
 
There's NO mega-super-powerful link building strategy that will suddenly sky-rocket your site to the top for whatever keywords you're after.

It's all pretty simple, but for long-term results, you need to take your time slowly.

The king of all links are contextual links, i.e. links that come from articles, blog posts, press releases, etc. Yes, all the social bookmarking and forums stuff is good, but ONLY for diversity - on their own, they are worth nothing.

Therefore, just keep building quality/relevant contextual links and mix them up with other links for diversity. Sounds simple, but takes time.
 
The fact of SEO is you need to change your plan according to the movement in SERPS. If you are making progress steadily with a particular link building strategy then keep on it until it stops working and then immediately jump to new strategy, that is how seo works. The best way would be to build all type of links a few at a time.
