TIP: You can also get a no follow link on the BBB website that will still give your website some credibility. When you do pay to be a member that links becomes do follow.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/anna-...dog-training-methods-on-people_b_6811970.htmlI agree with OP and we've had some discussions about the topic in PMs, but I think in some cases these links can benefit people.
As I mentioned in the other thread, I had a 90+DA site give me a link in an article. The article got a ton of links and the article is currently a PA67. Now that's huge, and holds tremendous value. But like OP said, if your site is about dog training, you're just throwing money away. There are many high DA sites that these paid articles simply fade away because they aren't interesting.
Thanks for the interesting post and all the replies. I think some people might buy a link from HuffPo, Forbes, etc. and expect to see a jump right away. That's probably not going to happen.
But if you do purchase links from high authority sites, at some point, when looking at your backlink profile, it's going to look really nice. It all adds up, right?
So, no, 1 single link probably won't make or break your rankings, but a really "juicy" link now, another one next month or so, and again, and eventually it all adds up.
I'd like to hear from other people on their opinion if a link from Huffington Post will help rankings. Of course it all depends on your site, your niche, the competition, etc. but a link from that site won't hurt. And if you do this smartly, with no expectation of overnight success, over time you will see improvements... right?
Thanks!
Ok, you are either very naive and just overly excited about links...or you are trying to pump up LinksManagementShittyService.com:

That site is a joke. You (and Google) can see every site in their inventory. You want links from them? You might as well just Tweet Cutts your site and tell him to zap it. If you haven't ordered from there yet (and aren't just trying to pump up that shitty site) then consider yourself lucky. Very lucky.
You are right. A single links isn't going to do much at all except cost you a cool grand.
Looking nice and producing results are two entirely different things. What is more important?
A) When some SEO jackass runs a moz report and says "oohhhh look at that link profile. They have 3 good links. I have a boner."
B) Making money from your website
A single one each month isn't going to do much either. Maybe 10 per month. Have $150K to throw at links? Ok, you might shoot up and gain some traction...but then another update comes and you are fucked. All that $$ pissed away. Give me someones "authority link" budget and I will out perform them every single time with PPC. Think about it. You could but 1 link from Forbes and 1link from HuffPo and it will cost you about $3K. (those prices are 100% accurate as of today...$1,800 Forbes and $1,200 HuffPo)...those 2 links won't do much...but give me that $3K to use on PPC and will deliver a ROI every single time....without worrying about if the link juice will move the site...or if Google wants to flip a switch in a few days.
Sure, a link from that site won't hurt...but it isn't going to help 9 out of 10 sites. Over time you will see improvements IF you keep buying those kind of links....pouring $$$ into the site...only to see something fuck up the rankings.
Trust me, use the $$ in other ways....build your own network....run PPC....buy a fuck load of content and use outbrain to promote it (and you will get good links anyway and traffic)...I'm saying this AND I SELL THESE LINKS. I track every site that buys them...I've seen it all...every industry...sure, they can say "ohhh Forbes mentioned me" and stroke their dick...but they didn't make money or get much or a ranking push.
There is only 1 type of site that benefits from these links...sites like Expedia....Travelocity....sites that can spend $250K a month on links. Then, yes, you will see nice results. Everyone else can use the $$$ in much more productive ways.
