Link Building Is Useless?

I was doing some research on link building strategies when I ran into this video on youtube:


I've been on the fence with actually going full into building links since I do want a long term site and I don't want to be hit by a google update (like many on this site already have).

So, is link building really worth it if you have long term goals in mind or is it for quick cash?

I didn't watch the video since I know 0 stuff into building link.
But in my pov, this guys are on a niche that works, and they do a video talking about how it doesn't.
To me, it just seems like they are trying to put down competition.
 
I think link building is still strong if you do it better.

Fair enough. I never said link building doesn't work but the risk that's associated is what I wondered about. Thanks for the information.
 
There is always risk with anything you do.
Even without building links, Google can hit your site for a variety of reasons.

I suggest learning all you can about WH SEO and build your site, then see how you rank.
If your project is a long term authority site, then don't worry about links for now.
Once you have mastered WH SEO then move on to learning BH SEO and decide if you want to take the risk then.

You can't promote your site with only good content - it was proven so many times...
Of course that you can get hit from Google - welcome to the IM world.
 
Which part was the valuable information? All I heard is make quality content pray to God Google is smart enough to rank your site without any link building let us teach u by selling u this.

Depends on what they class as quality links.

We still get people on here asking if $5 packages from Fiverr advertised as high quality, will rank their website.
 
Link building is not useless at all but you have to be very careful not to overdo it, to use the right anchors and to use the right sources for the links. If you want to do link building right, start reading guides, articles etc. and start doing it yourself or if you want to skip that part, just hire an experienced link builder that knows what he is doing :)
 
Link building is still effective, indeed. The "right", "proper" and "quality" link building strategy would take you through in the right direction. I wish you all the best.
