Link Building: High quality, relevant links

More and more, I've been reading about high quality, relevant links.

What do you look for to determine if it's a yes or a no?

Side question: Can this be done without ahrefs, or do I just need to suck it up? ;)

Ahrefs or Semrush is a must. Ahrefs is better, Semrush is not cheaper. Without that you have no real way to check for what the website rank, what is the traffic estimation, what links the website have. So suck it up. Group buys are good enough for occasional use.

You can use different services too but there are so many link building resources already shared on the forum so as a start that should be a good to go with that!

Thanks. I'll look into some group buys now.

What exactly do you look for, to determine if it's a yes or a no?

Thanks, appreciate this response. I've read a fair few from the forum, they're great. But to date, I've not seen specific metrics. I.e. you should look for DR > 30, Traffic > x, etc.

If I'm mistaken, please point me in the right direction.

I havent used Ahrefs so cant comment on that!

Ahrefs is a money making tool is used the right way but also see to it that group buys do not last for a long time but still you do not need the whole month to use the account

Thanks! I'm happy to pay for it, that's not the issue. If I had a decent understanding of what to look for with regards to GP, I'd probably save more than the subscription not guest posting on poor quality blogs that aren't going to bring me any value.

My question was more around: what to look for to determine if it's a yes or a no, not specifically around getting ahrefs or not.

If your niche is motorbike racing, do you want a link from a Thai massage/escort website?


If your niche is motorbike racing, would a link from a hobby site which covers all types of sports and past times be suitable?

This is great, appreciate it. So are you saying, don't read into this too much? If it has a decent DA/ DR (can be checked for free) and relevant to my niche (health and fitness for me), post it?
 
You can use HAF easy peasy, but if you time and energy use ahrefs or semrush don’t wanna pay in full there’s a seller here selling their account for peanuts price.

People sometimes preach about the links must come from a relevant website, not quite true.
When we source links we will sometimes look outside the niche but place on a more powerful site, but the content is niche related.

Why do you think people want links on Forbes etc to announce a new product launch in XYZ niche?

Forbes is not an XYZ niche based site, instead it is a powerful site where there is relevance due to the article posted.
 
I use Ahrefs to check for backlinks and graph to see how website performed over time, in my opinion its the best tool and better than Semrush. Then i check traffic on similarweb which i think is most accurate tool for this, any site below 50K i not look to buy link there. If i am going to spend more money on the link i check carefully keywords and best pages for which website rank again i use Ahrefs, because if its some weird and non relevant keywords, articles that bring huge traffic its possible i avoid the site. So, nobody can tell you exactly what will work for you, you just need to make your own call and if you like some site get a link from there. If you are getting links for free on your amazing content then you can't control things too much. If you are doing outreach again you can check all sites first and then blast your emails.

Interesting, so how do you determine whether to post or not? Are there any metrics you look for?

Thanks, really useful! So you look at the site's backlinks, and see how they performed over time, traffic, and keywords the site is ranking for?

I've never heard of similarweb, is this free or paid?
