If the civilizations of mars were advanced enough to destroy their entire civilization, who cleaned up the debris?
 
I thought life on Mars ended because of over-farting due to beans and chilli. Oh well... can't expect much from scientists - they're so dogmatic and narrow minded.

Basically if we wipe out Earth, it'll look like Mars in 400.000 years. The winds, radiation and time itself will consume every road, every building we ever built and it'll look like Mars does now.

Look at that town where Chernobyl blew up. It's been 30 years....imagine what it'll look like in 400.000 years or a million years...it'll look like we've never even been here at all.
 
Some day in distant future, some newspaper (whatever it is called then) is going to say the same thing about planet Earth, and that would definitely be a true story, or History. That newspaper will be published and read by people on Mars -- our descendents who have made it their home just a few decades from now. May be then they will throw stones at Earth where some of us or their forefathers have caused a holocaust out of sheer madness, and made this planet a barren graveyard in moments after that... :(

Shouldn't we leave this planet in a better condition so that they can visit Earth and see our graves surrounded in a beautiful calm peaceful surroundings, with little birds chirping around, and resting on green branches loaded with fruits and flowers, on the banks of the stream of fresh water flowing gently nearby??

This reminds me of a documentary I watched a couple of years ago called Aftermath: Population Zero. If I remember correctly, there's even a part in this documentary (or another similar documentary) that goes over how small plants grow through the cracks in the concrete, decompose (forming a layer of humus), and allow other plants to grow from the humus. It's a pretty interesting video if you have time to watch it.

So why not? Anything is possible. In a few millions years aliens from another planet could be having the same discussion about Earth. We are after all just another species occupying this planet, advanced and far more dangerous than the dinosaurs.
 
If that's true, then there would be radiation everywhere. Curiosity could do some sampling to confirm the theory. :)

But there will still be plenty of evidence to be found.

There is a fossil record, a sedimentary record, an atmospheric record. There will be evidence of past life for billions of years.

Amino acids (the basic building blocks of life) have been detected in interstellar dust clouds tens of thousands of light years away. If scientists can detect something so small, so far away, do you really think they are incapable of finding evidence of life on the planet closest to us?

And if they found it, do you really think they will keep it a secret?
 
it's right concept that mars has been destroyed because of nuclear attack, But what's the story behind this attack? nobody know!

It's indeed an awesome quote, but I like it from another perspective. The first sentence is trivial (no information), and the second one is deliciously sly (In a scale of 1 to 10, they could be equally terrifying with a grade of 1, but the "terrifying" word is what strikes out to the reader rather than the fact, bypassing his analytical process).

Exactly. That's why I always consider every possibility.. maybe humans were living on Mars 65 millions years ago and they wanted to come to Earth because it was a better planet for their future and Mars was dying because of nuclear wars and stuff like that. So they decide to wipe out the major living form on Earth at the time, the Dinosaurs, but something doesn't go like they had planned and they end up all dying on Mars except for some human-life seeds that they were able to send to a Dinosaurs-free Earth.

You might think this is science fiction, but really.. it could be real.
