I think having a thread listing different pieces of SEO could be handy for anyone wanting to do SEO whether for themselves or for other people. I think it can also be useful for people looking to put together SEO packages to sell and have a list they can choose to include in their packages. I created a base group of high level categories that are broad and should contain common tasks for that category. I don't think we should deep dive into HOW to execute the tasks and instead focus on coming up with tasks you find yourself doing to improve SEO on a website.

Feel free to add tasks to the category and suggest new categories. I don't think we need to separate local from non-local SEO ranking, but I am open for suggestions.

This is a work in progress.

On Page Optimizations

This sections includes tasks that are performed to the website directly to make the website easier for search engines to crawl. Besides adding new content to the website, these tasks are usually done once and then periodically checked for changes.

  1. Page Speed Optimization
    • Improve page load speeds of website
  2. Google My Business Listing
    • Add website to GMB
  3. Add Social Media Open Graph meta tags
  4. Silo Structure Pages
    • Categorize and properly link the content of the website
  5. Proper HTML
    • H1-H6 tags make sense.
    • Image tags have alt text. etc..
    • HTML is valid
  6. Enable SSL/HTTPS encryption
    • The website has a valid SSL cert
  7. American Disability Act (ADA) Compliance
    • A website should be accessible by screen readers and folks with disabilities
  8. Apply Keywords
    • The keywords a website wants to rank for should be on the website
  9. Content Writing to Blog or Pages
    • Create content daily, weekly, monthly, etc.

Off Site Optimizations

Includes improving outside awareness to the website and focuses on generating traffic.

  1. Link Building (this could be its own section?)
  2. Social Media Posting
  3. Generating Google My Business Citations
  4. PBN Creation and Managing
  5. Purchase Media Buys such as Digital Ads, Facebook Ads, or Google Ads

Analyzing, Monitoring and Reporting

Measuring the working that was done, providing feedback, and making adjustments.

  1. Monthly keyword tracking
    • Track how the website is doing in the SERPs for its keywords
  2. Google Analytics
    • Show monthly results of GA visits
  3. Page Speed Monitoring
    • Makes sure the website doesn't slow down
  4. Researching New Keywords
    • Finding new keywords to rank
  5. Analyzing Results
    • Make tweaks to your SEO plan as necessary

You can always make a list of sellers but you need to have used their services before I had made a long one but it was deleted as I hadn’t used several sellers service

Link Building (this could be its own section?).
Yes, Link Building needs to be a section in itself. Sub-sections could be-
  • Guest Posting
  • PBN
  • Web2.0
  • File Sharing - Video, image, audio, pdf, ppt, infographics, etc.
  • Article Syndicate
  • Press Release
  • Forum posting
  • Blog commenting, bookmarking
  • and more...
Obviously, everything above needs to QUALITY focused (and not quantity focused). I know whenever old SEOs see something like article syndicate, bookmarking, etc. then a figure of 100 or 500 comes up in mind. So, it is important to do quality, no matter if it's just 1-5 submissions only.

I don’t want this to be a list of sellers but instead a list of SEO services somebody can put together and package to sell to their clients. Executing the different tasks could be outsourced to a 3rd party seller but that’s not the focus of this thread.
