No one told you to stop using google services. Actually its the other way around.

The lesson to be learned is that you can not stop google from gathering information about user behavior on your website, by simple tricks like not using WMT or analytics.

As there is no easy "opt-out" preventing google to see how people react to our sites, we will have to adopt sooner or later. It is logical to conclude that google collects all this data on user behavior with a purpose.

I making money thanks to google, and i plying mostly by the rules, so i don't care about this paranoid things, "hide from google" "use another browsers" "clear cookies"etc..
You think things are better with Bing and Yahoo?? They doing the same...
 
Agreed, and switch to another search engine and tell your friends and family to. Only way is to slowly chip away at them and have people see them negatively, especially after all these crazy privacy issues.

I am not telling people to hide from Google. In fact I am telling people the opposite you pretty much can't hide from Google and sure as taxes your website can't hide from Google, if you want to use Google to help you make that money.

The point of this thread is to let everyone know that whether you use webmaster tools or not Google still knows what your site is doing!

the only way to stop Google from knowing what is happening on your site is to block Google at the Apache/WebServer level.

I personally use webmaster tools for most of my sites. I have been hit with the unnatural links warning. My keywords dropped off for about 2-3 weeks I continued to ad content and link build and I am back to where I was before. My advice is ignore the warning and carry on it probably just another way for Google to get some stats.
 
Killing some Google myths is great. You have to be wary of the information that you are given.

That was the answer I was looking for. But.... is there a higher risk when you use webmaster tool or it's the same thing. May be u can assume ... 10-20% higher risk...

The only extra risk is that they know who owns the site. however you can setup a google account per site if you want. In terms of the data they gather, no extra data is gathered about the site. All they are doing is showing you the data they have already gathered. Webmaster tools does not require you to install java code like analytics so physically there is no way they can gather any extra data from you using webmaster tools. All webmaster tools asks you to do is verify that a site is yours and you can do this by uploading a separate file. No code required.
 
There is actually an option to block cookies in Google Chrome:
Google -> Options -> Under the Bonner -> Content Settings -> Manage Exceptions.
 
Yes of course they know what is happening to your site, they dont need google webmaster tools or analytics to check your stats and your backlinks they OWN the search engine. 2 blogs of mine that i sumbitted to ALN got deindexed i did not use google webmaster tools or google analytics to them. When they got deindexed i sumbitted them to google webmaster tools and both had a google webmasters message about quality issues.

Trying to fight Goog is a fools game. If you have nothing to hide then who cares anyways? It's a war you cannot win, better to use Goog's omnipotent power to your advantage.

Remember, people all around us are banking with legit sites based on their personal passions without all this cat and mouse gaming...

There is so much financial prosperity in the internet world it's almost impossible NOT to get some of it.
 
The whole post is somewhat interesting and I have come to know about lots of new strategy about google.
 
I read that there's a delay in the reporting when using Google Analytics,
and that some other analytics tool might be better because it's updated in real time.
Any suggestions, or is it better to use GA?

One free alternative that has been mentioned is getclicky dot com.
They have a plug-in for Wordpress sites and others, and even one for mobile.
I haven't tried it yet. Has anyone else?

As many have said in here, there really is no strategy about google. The best strategy is to build a site one page at a time, seo it, and let it naturally accrue.

I like Stat Counter, it offers a lot more features then most free analytic trackers.

Analytics now has a real time beta and yes I do use it and yes it is great fun to watchpeople hanging out at your site. I have a few purely white hat sites and I only use analytics for them. However if you really want to take a voyeuristic look at what people are doing get yourself the wpclick plugin. It takes video of what users are doing on your site. Opens your eyes that is for sure.

Yes but if you play by the rules, and if you are patience with ranking, you don't need to hide from anything, that's what i try to say ;)
