I bought SBoard. I own SBox as well.
One thing is very clear to everyone: SBox is awesome. Obviously the team knows what they are doing and can make and maintain a great product. So, it's not like I hate them or am seething with anger. I think a lot of people are upset for the reason that bothers me. When I spent that money on SBoard I assumed (as was pitched on the sales page) that it would at some point become as valuable to me as SBox. Or at least close.
I didn't ask for a refund shortly after getting it because I believed it would be immensely improved over time. So I decided to be patient. Do I wish I had gotten a refund? I do. Not because I hate the dev team or the program. I think it had a lot of potential. I just wish I could have used that $97 for another piece of software that I would have gotten more use out of. I bought SBoard purely on trust and respect for the SBox team. I didn't do tremendous research on it. I made a mistake by not waiting.
I can fully understand if they are swamped with too much work. If doing customer support takes up too much time then I simply hope they find a way to get more help. I know a lot of people would be more than happy to pay for special addons or features to the original SBox. I'm sure people would even be willing to pay a monthly fee if they offered something new for the program.
Let me be completely clear and honest about SBoard, though. I did use it to make quite a few links. It still does function. The problem as I see it is that it didn't become what we all thought it would become. The fear is that if it's not worked on enough is that the success rate will just continually go down until they unofficially quit working on it altogether since they aren't even selling it anymore. This is what upsets people about the purchase, I believe.
One thing that makes things confusing in this discussion is the fake posters and the vested interests. It's hard to know what the truth is and which poster you can trust. But let's just look at the simple facts: SBoard is no longer available for sale. That tells you everything you need to know. If someone claims SBoard is a great product (as good as SBox even) and worth the $97 you immediately know it's not true because it's not for sale. If it was a matter of customer support for SBoard then the price could simply be raised or it could have a monthly fee attached to justify hiring more customer support (because if it really is a great product then it's worth more anyways). But, the truth is it's not for sale at any price. That says exactly what the dev team thinks of the product. You don't need any other opinions than that.
I'm not trying to join a crusade here against SBoard or it's dev team. Like I said, it's not as crappy as other products out there. It's just not as good as buyers expected it to be by now. While I would certainly love a refund, if that can't happen then I would really love an honest, in depth explanation about what the plans are for SBoard. I'd just like to know the truth. The things that are said off the forums between the members of the team.
If there are plans to improve success rates, improve the ocr, add more platforms or features, then I'd love to hear about it. Even if it's not happening soon, I'd like to know if there are plans for this to ever take place. I just want to know if SBoard is going to experience a gradual decline into nothing or if it's something that might be useful for as long as SBox as been useful.
