I've started to learn english when I was 6 or 7 and stopped at the age of 12-13. Since then I didn't pass any course. So, you can see my skills now, and it's up to you to decide - whether it's good or not.

If you want a lot of russian cartoons or tv-shows you can visit yt, or russian torrent (where are really tons of tvshows).

Feel free to ask me any questions, I'm native Ru speaker

Your English looks spectacular to me. I could only hope to achieve that with Russian

Do you know of a place where I could watch pre-recorded or streaming sports of any kind? Something with a scoreboard that is visible most of the time. I was thinking if I could watch something where I knew the rules and had a frame of reference like basketball, I could listen to the announcers talk about things happening in the game and keep up with the score. I don't know which sports are popular over there. If I were to believe all the American films of the 80's I would guess the most popular passtime in Russia would be Steroid-fueled Boxing matches to the death where at the beginning of the match Dolph Lundgren says, "I must break you." and at the end of the match Dolph Lundgren says, "If he dies, he dies." Which, if that were actually true, would be completely ****ing awesome in my opinion. :18:

Ha...russian children cartoons, I remember seeing Nu zaitz nu pagadi as a kid because that's what our national televison was transmitting. It was...interesting and groovy (if I'm using the right word for it). Iasi was like 50 km away from URSS at that time, very close, hence the russian influence.

I have been learning English all my life, with little success. I'm just bad when it comes to languages...

Luckily, at some point I got excited about online game, that was entirely text based. These games were quite popular in the late 90.

Anyways, after 2 years of playing I could read/write novels.

You might find that approach to be more appealing, as there are a lot of multiuser russian games online.

What do you need it for?
As I know, Russian is the most advanced language, but it can't be your real reason (unless you have Russian girlfriend lol)

Here is Russian biggest torrent tracker, there's a lot of educational videos, including Sesam Street. You have to be registered and obey the rules.

The easiest way to learn Russian is through reading, find video with subtitles and follow the text. Also Russian girlfriend is a great help. lol

I'm not into sports, but I'll ask my friends. There are a lot of films in Russia, it depends on what do you prefer. I know, there are all episodes of South Park, Futurama, House MD, Big Bang Theory... You can watch them, if you like.
