Hello everyone. This is my question: It's worth learning programming just for doing this as freelancer ? I want to make a living from this, without being employee. I want to do this from home.

Or, i should take action on affiliate marketing?(I really like lead generation, rev-share, content creation) - but everywhere i look i just see a lot of competition and this scares me.
I already know everything about affiliate marketing, traffic sources, i have a webhost, i'm ready to build a niche site, but, i think i just lose my time, and money in this area full of fake gurus.
It's still worth starting affiliate marketing?

Oh, and why not create a poll about this? Just choose what you preffer.

I would say freelancing. If you are able to master anything (language or service) then you can use it to get a real job in future if the whole IM setup fails.

I would prefer to say freelancing. Freelancing is very high scope and you can make good money through freelancing if you can learn and have skills like web designning, logo designing, article writing etc.

Learning a langage such as PHP JAVA or python is always a good option. you can find a full time job, you can develop websites or applications and sell them. It's never a waste of time.

Well, it depends on your needs. Freelancing is great, if you have something to offer and you know how to get customers. If you know what you are doing, you may earn quite a money in short time and it could be a long-term business. But don't forget that freelancing is not just about programming (communication with clients, accountancy, ...). Also it depends on what person you are. For example, I am a freelancer for about few years now. And I can't absolutely stand it anymore. I am sick of my customers.

On the other hand, with affiliate marketing you have more freedom, but it's (I would say) harder to set-up and quite risky.

Anyway, I think it's stupid to start in IM if you have expenses, no financial reserve and no income. I was waiting for about a year to have enough money to start affiliate site, and even now (well, it's been just 3 weeks) a have 0 income from this.

Knowing a programming language is always a good knowledge to have. I hope you decide wisely.

actually the latest trend for affiliate marketers is to know programming, and you def. need it. So my advice: start with HTML, CSS and learn the basics of affiliate marketing ...you might hit the jackpot on the long run

    Why not both?

Take on freelance jobs, and dabble some of the earnings into affiliate marketing. That way, you still have a stream of income while you're trying to get your campaigns profitable.

Freelance job are more "guaranteed" income, but with affiliate marketing you can:

    • Quickly scale a profitable campaign to thousands (or tens of thousands) of dollars of profit daily
    • Let your campaigns run on "autopilot" once optimized. If you can create barriers to entry for competitors, the campaigns may require little ongoing maintenance. On the other hand, with freelance work, your income is contingent on the number of work hours you put into it
    • Work up the chain and build your own products/services in the verticals where you're strong
    • Have the knowledge to launch successful marketing campaigns for your own products/services down the road

    • Thanks Thanks x 2

Learning how to program will definitely not hurt in Internet Marketing. If you know some language such as Python, you can easily automate tasks and probably even bank more.
