Hey guys,

I’m fairly new to the black hat and trying to understand how people are actually running campaigns today for WhatsApp leads.

I advertise in the gambling industry.

Right now I mostly run engagement / click campaigns that lead straight into WhatsApp chats, but I feel like there’s still a lot to improve both in volume and lead quality.

Would love to hear how you guys are doing it:

What type of campaigns are working best for you right now?

How do you structure your campaigns (ad sets / ads per campaign)?

Are you mainly running cold traffic or also retargeting?

Do you use lookalikes? If yes, based on what?

What kind of creatives / angles are currently bringing you the best quality leads?

Basically just trying to understand what’s actually working in the field right now. Everyone has their own setup

If you want, I can also make it sound more “advanced / veteran advertiser” so you get even more engagement in BHW threads.

switched from click to messaging objective last month and my cost per whatsapp lead dropped from like $4.20 to $1.80 just from that one change, gambling verticals specifically seem to respond way better when the cta is already framed as "chat now" vs sending them to a landing page first... curious tho how are you handling the account bans when facebook sees the gambling angle, are you running through agency accounts or just burning through personal BMs?

WhatsApp straight from ads can work, but quality usually drops if there’s no filtering before.
We’ve had better results when there’s at least some kind of pre-landing or simple page before sending people to WA. Doesn’t have to be anything complex, just enough to qualify the click a bit.
Cold traffic mostly, retargeting helps but only if you’re getting decent volume already.
Look a likes… yeah, but depends what you base them on. Low quality leads = useless LLA.
Creatives matter a lot more than campaign structure tbh. Angle + message decides everything, especially in gambling.
If your leads feel weak, I’d look more at what people see before they hit WhatsApp, not just the ads setup.
