Lastpass hacked again

I have stopped using them, but I think it's time to consider alternatives. I don't know what security measures they are taking to save data, but it seems not to have worked. Lastly, they are stating they have not lost any data or passwords exposed, but I do find that hard to believe.

Passwords were not affected.... Nobody has access to that info but yourself. Only data that was compromised was regular user data that the company/staff have access to... It is not a good thing but the way their system is developed keeps the passwords safe.

Just make sure you dont fall for some social engineering.

TBH, that's a lot of work to handle the accounts, when you signup to multiple new sites every day.

I use roboform for more than a decade and never had any issues with them.
 
Thankfully I switched to bitwarden premium almost 2 yrs back. Don’t have to deal with this closed source garbage.

Even txt file does the same but… Here are the problems

1) Device sharing is bad. E.g. you have to plugin the thumb drive on your mobile etc.
2) You get a malware which can read hardware, and you pretty much lose everything.
3) No autofill.

I got plenty of time so I'll take the extra work as I have all my financial stuff on my computers and would rather just trust BTB to handle the passwords.

But you are right, it is more work than what most do.
 
My paswords are stored in my brain and the duplicate are written in a white sheet and stored in my word drop. Even the best hacker can't crack my password. The old school way of doing stuff as always being the best way of doing things.

I have been thinking to make the switch to Bitwarden for a while but never pushed myself to do it. How do you rate it in comparison to LPass?
Lastpass has become very good at detecting new passwords being created, passwords being changed etc. which makes life very easy... Is bitwarden as good with that sort of stuff?

How about cards, noted and forms? Work well?

I guess i will test it for s few days on a VM to see how it goes...

Exporting / importing the passwords is a pain though as they need to be reviewed. Etc

Most platforms seem to deny they were hacked or if there was a possible security breach, but no data was leaked. Amazing huh.

Woah, that’s what I call a detailed question! I am on mobile right mow, but I will definitely get to this question as soon as I am on my laptop. Stay tuned. Short answer, it’s far better. Will explain when I am back.

This is what I have to secure my passwords: Bitwarden (need a yubi key to access the password manager), yubikey, authenticator app, and Everykey (it saves your login credentials & generates random password). What I like about Everykey is that it automatically logs you in to any website without typing, and all the login credentials are secured on their military grade cloud storage.

Furthermore, most of my passwords are between 128 characters to 5,000 characters long
 
Man, most you guys are old fashioned. I will create a new thread tomorrow morning in regards security, privacy, and useful resources.
 
1Password is doing a good job by keeping your data encrypted and giving only you the private key to decrypt it.
 
As long as you work alone, there are plenty of offline password managers to choose from. Lastpass is only for teams who collaborate remotely.
