So setting up geo-targeting is easy. But can some experienced ppc'rs chime in oh how to effectively bid? Like if I'm promoting a eye doctor, simply bidding on eye doctor will bring clicks but not that targeted. Or for a dentist, just bidding on dentist puts the ad up a lot but few clicks and not that targeted.

Like use phrase or exact? Use dynamic keyword? Etc

Id appreciate any help here in the thread or via pm/Skype.

Wow great tool. Still hoping to get some real world tips

Udt89,

You are on the right track. The core thing to think about here is searcher intent. Having an effective campaign is as much about how well you know your market as it is how well you configure the PPC account.
For the most part, it is far better to have more targeted traffic than it is to have more exposure. That is one of the best parts about advertising online. You can choose keywords that only trigger your ads when a certain phrase is used.

Much of this is also going to be testing. Do some keyword research and find out search volumes for more targeted keyword terms like dentist + city name or dentist + state name. You could also make some separate ad groups that target specific service + city name etc. For example cheap root canal in Austin.

Remember to make tightly themed ad groups and only include keywords that trigger relevant ads. Observe what works best then gravitate toward that.

Hope that helps,

Shawn
