Keyword searches

So what are the basic parameters for an awesome keyword?

I hear some people say that you want your keyword to get 20000 unique searches a day.

Is that exact or broad?

Because I've been testing golf niches around in market samurai, and no keywords I can gather reach over 10000 exacts a day except for just plain "golf" which gets 160000 exacts.

I'm kinda dumbfounded, I'm like "Well, if these impossible keywords are only getting 10000 searches, then why do people on this forum claim their are 20000 a day, easy keywords?

I don't think there are easy 20000 a day keywords. 20000 a month is more likely. If the keyword is easy 20000 a month is pretty good.

30,000 a month with an exact search if you are using adwords is what I go after.

Anything more than about 3k+ searches per month can make you some money

I agree with bbrez1, 3k exact searches a month will bring in the visitors. But don't stop with just 1 keyword per site, find 4 or more related keywords and target them all. That way the # of exact searches will be greater when you combine all the keyword exact searches and you'll have a better chance of getting traffic.

For example, I have one niche site that targets 15 keywords, all with 1k+ exact searches per month. I put up 15 articles (1 for each keyword) and was getting 50 plus visits per day in the 1st month. Now it's 6 months later (and lots of backlinking) and I'm getting almost 300 visitors per day and 10 to 20 clicks on Adsense per day. And I still have to write another 20 articles to target the other 20 keywords I want to rank for. I'm shooting for 1k+ vistors per day in the next 6 months.

I was really confused. Okay, so over 3000 exact a month or more.

So how are you targeting so many different niches. You said write targeted articles, but won't you only rank for your website keyword (the one in your url)? Then the other ones you are targeting, they will be absorbed by the top ten sites for those other keywords?

Unless you are somehow ranking #1 for multiple keywords with one site?
