keyword research using adwords

noob question here.

I am using google adwords to find easy keywords to rank for based on the 'competition level'. I found a good keyword with plenty of visitors and 0 competition on adwords but in practise it has been extremely difficult to rank for this keyword or even get into the top 10. What am I doing wrong?

What are you guys using to do your keyword research? what is adwords exactly, and is it supposed to be used in this way? what is the best way to find easy keywords to rank for etc? are their tools available that are more effective than google adwords?

competition in adwords keyword means competition for commerciality, so more competition is better for us adsense webmaster, because more competition means more advertiser will be there and bid for the keywords, and the keywords value will be better in time

if your are looking for competition in seo, use phrase "keyword" in google less than 100k is good, then allintitle:"keyword" less than 30k is good, also allinurl:"keyword" less than 30k is good.... i think allintitle should weight more when you judge the keyword competition

you pick keywords with 0 competition in google adwords mean you just pick a keyword with no commercial value... hope you have any cpa or clickbank offer that can go with it

The keyword tool is meant to be used with adwords (when you pay to publish ads on google). The competition displayed there refers to the number of people bidding on that keyword on adwords, or the competition you would have if you were paying for ads using this keyword.

From an SEO standpoint, it has very little use. Instead, generate a list of keywords, check the "exact" box and look for longer keywords with a high number of monthly searches. Then, search on google for that keyword while wrapping it with quotes, leaving you with the exact search result (that's your real competition). Then, use tools like yahoo site explorer to research the top ranking sites (your competitors for that specific keyword). Good look beating the big G.

what do you mean by use phrase "keyword" in google? I search for "keyword" and it comes up with the google adwords site. Where am I supposed to be inputting this data?

I need a tool that simply tells me

1. How many people are searching for the keyword, and
2. An estimate of how difficult it would be to rank for that specific keyword ie how strong the competition, how long they have held their rank, how old the site it, what is its PR etc etc.

I am not interested in adwords.

hahaha i mean type your terget keywords with phrase in google search engine "insert keywords here"

Yes, there are many options.

Market Samurai (which also does a lot of sweet things) and Traffic Travis. Both really useful and time saving.
