I will try to answer your questions relate to keyword research. I also expect to write a guide at some point in future and these questions will help em identify the points to address.



PS: Last time I started a QnA thread, I got some heat from some members. I do not claim to know everything about everything. I am sure there are some people who know more about this topic than me but are not willing to share either due to lack of time or to protect their IP.

Can you give me a keyword with little to no competition and it can be monetize with amazon. And how do people find such keywords?

T2tkid has a legit question and if you could share with the crowd how you find that kind of KW (lots of guys want to know I am sure) it would help a lot of guys that work in IM that way.

A step by step would probably be best as you have all levels of intellect and knowledge here so something that would benefit the Noobs would be great.

Nice of you to offer to share your knowledge with the folks here.

1- is it imp to have a kwd in website url?
2- If searches are high, how to check if there is a competition or not. I saw a niche with huge searches but no good site for that.

I do not want to give away any keywords. That will defeat the purpose of the QnA,

You questions can be broken down in several parts.

How to find keywords?
To get started you need a set of seed keywords which you can plug in to Google AdWords Keyword Planner to get details on. Almost every paid tools gets is data from here. There are numerous ways to brainstorm for seed keywords and I can touch upon them in a detailed guide.

How to analyze competition?

This is better left for the full guide but I want to address something here.

You should analyze the serps for this to see what kind of results are shown.
Search engines have evolved heavily and will continue to evolve.

Google has a big bias for the type of site it wants to rank and it is spreading.

If the SERP show only a certain type of sites, google has likely decided that this SERP should be showing sites of these nature only (or alt least majority of the top 10 will go to such kind of sites). Example if the serps shows real service providers for a service, an informational site on that topic may be difficult to rank. Same applies for ecommerce, gov and edu sites. That does not mean you cannot rank for these keywords with an informational site but it may be more difficult as you no longer have 10 results you can beat to come to page 1. On the other hand if you have the same type of site to which google is showing positive bias, you are in luck.

If a SERP shows results like maps, images, answers to question (example: time) it may impact your CTR as often the clicks go to these and even if you rank, you may not get the kind of traffic you expected.

How to know if its a good keyword for monetization with Amazon?

While you can try to monitize any page with amazon it will help if you answer yes to the following:

Is it a buying keyword? (often keywords with best & reviews are a good starting point for buying keywords)
Does amazon have good options for that type of product?
Can you write a copy that shows you have knowledge of the product?
Is the page is optimized to convert?

1. From the perspective of on page SEO, yes it is good to have keyword in title and if you see SERPs that do not have the keyword in title then yes that is a positive sign.

2. Were you able to point why the pages that are ranking were ranking? There may be a bias where google is favoring certain types of sites over others. I would need to know more about the keyword to take a deep dive.

1. It's possible. Register a brandable domain, for example, bestblendershq.com if your keyword was 'best blenders'.

2. Search for the keyword in Google and analyse the top 10 ranking sites in Google. Check their link profile to see how many backlinks they have, their PR, the anchor text used, etc. Also, the less the number of sites in the top 10 having the keyword in their titles, the better.

Yep, you're getting the right advice here...don't discount the value of EMD's...I don't care what anyone says. If you can get one of the kws in your url, go for it.

To add you an always target a keyword in url by targeting the keyword on an inner page.

Do you have an experience with facebook keywords and advertising?
What is the trick?

I have two problems. Okay, I admit that I covered one specific topic a little too much on my site. Google basically sends me traffic only for that one. The rest is like not getting any good position in search results. They don't even show up on webmaster tools. Where am I going wrong?

Second question: my one site doesn't show up on Google when someone uses the title's three words in search bar. Its like only if spaces are removed and the words are put together it shows up. Its been like this the entire one year. I have twitter profile for it. Yet its not making difference. How do I solve this problem? I did build backlinks. Yet no change.

I've attached screen shots of my Traffic Travis competition tab below, I would appreciate if you can guide me with the questions I have below:

- I'm wondering if this keyword is good to go as "All these results don't have my keyword in the title, url or description".
- None of the top 10 results are root domain, all top 10 results are inner pages only and none have my exact keyword in their url too.
- Also I've checked the anchor text for each result using majestic seo, and none-of them seem to target my keywords its always partial keyword or some thing that is slightly related however its not the exact same term as I'm trying to rank for, then there's also a few url variations, misc links etc for anchor diversity I suppose..
- So am I correct in understanding that these top 10 results have an "accidental rank", because these websites have mentioned my keyword partially in their articles or some related synonyms while creating their anchor text or in their articles ?
- Does the PR of these pages matter as you see in the screenshot, as these results are not optimized for my targeted keyword ?
