What other tools can I use for keyword research?

Follow my tutorial to quickly research keyword's search volume, competition and CPC :

Look at the first 2 pages in google. Are high authority pages in the first few results? Also look for Web 2.0 and similar types sites if you see them on the first page then that will be low comp. If you see them on the 2nd page also low comp, but maybe slightly harder, But still good to go. Remember even low comp keywords take time now to rank

Also, remember Keyword tools are OK. But don't use them 100%. They might give you a comp score. But it won't always be accurate as most people use pbn's nowadays and they will be hidden. Start with that keyword planner and you could then use that tool suggested and then do manual search on google pages for other sites

Better OFF going with Low competition with low authority competitors.
It would be easy to rank with some good TF pbns links.

If you're using Google's Keyword Planner, then the low/med/high competition it tells you doesn't indicate the difficulty of the keyword for SEO. The competition relates to AdWords (how many people are bidding for that keyword, etc). Some "low keywords can be difficult to rank with SEO.

i'm gonna tell you a strategy that will save you a lot of time.

first download the majestic tool bar.
search any keyword that is a buyer intent keyword. or any keyword in general you find.

then what you want to do is see the first page or second page ( or ANY page ) that have weak sites. how do you find out if a site is weak?, use your majestic bar and see the ROOT domain stats. see the reffering domains and external backlinks. then see TF. if these 3 are low, that means you have a weak site.
this means that this site will be ranking for LOW competition keywords right?

go to semrush.com

type in the domain of the weak site you found

and you'll see the keywords it's ranking for. those will be low competition keywords.

then type that keyword again in google, see the SERPS for that keywords, take out more weak sites and put them in semrush and you'll slowly start to find a lot of low comp high volume kw's that weak sites are targetting.

this is a strategy i have been using and it's quite effective. you will have an endless supply of low competition keywords and you will be opened to multiple niches.

i use long tail pro to see the competition level ( you can download cracked version of it as well ) with this and manual research. you want the long tial pro KD to be less than 30. if it's less than 25 then that's a truly low competiiton keyword. i usually see what kind of links the top 10 are building and how old are the sites.

remember to do manual research. fuck what the tool says, the metrics of anything, especially PA/DA and all that shit , all can be manipulated. these metrics just give you a little insight on how difficult the keyword is.

please read this so that you understand how tools are in accurate

@SpoonFeeder has also given a very helpful tool you can use to aid in your research.

further more, read the ' keyword reserach section ' of this thread :
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/the-ultimate-blackhatworld-thread-repository.915304/

use wikipedia and type your niche in and you will find many sub categories. those are keyword remember that, read quickly the article and find keywords and keep entering them in Long tail pro or whatever your tool is.

soon you will begin to get alot of keywords you can target without a hassle.

keyword reserach is an art. learning it takes time.

To be honest, the best way is through experience, trial, and errors. To do that, follow the advice given above by speedhawk45 and Pauli66.

There are paid tools like Keyword Revealer, etc. that will give you a difficulty score, but they're not always right either (no tool is). I think they're great for quickly filtering through some keywords though. Don't put too much focus on getting a difficulty score from a tool. Focus on learning to judge the competition that's currently ranking in the serps. Again, the advice given above will point you in the right direction.

If you're really hung up on a tool score, Keyword Revealer does have a free trial. You can try that out and try searching for long tails with a score under 30. But I'll have to warn you that if you don't understand how to judge competition manually, the score could be wrong and you can end up wasting time on a keyword that is actually a lot harder than what the score says.

Tools are not accurate they will not see all backlinks and they will not see hidden pbns. So you look at one of those
paid tools and it gives you a very low score of 10 based on the top 10 results in google for that keyword. So the tool is
saying this is a super easy kw. What the tool cannot see is that the top 10 results are all using pbns. The top 3 results
could be using 20-30 pbns for that kw. So the tool score is pointless.

The only tool you need is Keyword Planner. Find a keyword aim for the low comp ones(based on cpc). Stick to results say under 5k searches for
all countries, make sure it has buyer intent.Add that majestic plugin and see how many backlinks it has. It will probably only
see 50% of the links(rough guess) Check the backlinks on a free backlinkchecker. Can you see manually made backlinks. If so they someone
is trying to rank for that keyword in google. Check the others sites see if they are doing the same. If a good few people are building
manual links to their sites. Then there must be some money in the kw.

If you can see that each site has a good number on built links then they are probably using these as filler links and they should in most
cases if there is buyer intent on the kw be using pbns. Now look for web 2.0/parasites(search on BHW if you do not know what that is) pages
on page 1 if they are there then the keyword should be easy enough.to get into the top 10. If no web 2.0/parasites on first page, look for them on the
2nd page. If there are web 2.0/parasites there. It might be a bit harder but I would still think it would not be to hard to rank.

If you are new to ranking sites. The aim of the game is to rank something super easy, make a small site. Do that once and build on it.Do not aim for big searches/big sites early on as you will get frustrated.

As others have said, no keyword research tool is 100% accurate, but if you cross-check a few different tools and get similar difficulty scores it can help narrow things down. I personally cross check between LongTail Pro & Keysearch.co - but at the end of the day you should also do a manual check yourself and look into the sites that are holding first page positions for the keywords you're hoping to target.

I would rather go for competition with high search volume. I have had it rough ranking for low volume, low compe keywords
