Keep Engagement on IG ADS Post

Hello,

I am trying to run a giveaway competition/run exposure post for an upcoming show we are hosting without losing the @, comments, or engagement from the original post.

I'm well aware that when you duplicate a Facebook AD, you loose all the post engagement for a Facebook Post- but is this the same for Instagram? Since there are no dark post on IG, Ideally I'd like to create a post, use the same or different scripts, interest, ect for testing, but keep the engagement from the original post from each variant.

What I planned on doing was Duplicating Ads> Adding My New Variant> and select the same post "Existing Post". Any help and clarification is greatly appreciated.

From my experience, you can run an ad with an original IG post and keep the engagements but you cannot change any of the text/caption!
If you want custom text or a new caption, it will create a dark IG post

How do you create an IG Dark Post - just create and AD like you normally do and select "Create New Post"? I'm assuming.

yes you are correct but make sure your ad placements are only on instagram
