Just why SEO is dead

I agree, the title is a bit lame, but I stumbled across an interesting article naming the best channels to drive "massive" traffic.
http://billwidmer.com/best-marketing-channels/

why is it interesting? because I feel it pretty much sums up the current state of the SEO industry.
There's a bunch of socially inept losers running their mailing list and baiting poor desperate people starting with IM into buying their useless webinars. And from there they draw conclusions how SEO and IM in general works.

The funniest part. They talk about massive traffic, only mention SEO and, except for one of these 30 people, none of them really has massive traffic.
SEO is not dead yet and will never in future......do some research.....and BE PATIENT.

I did my research, but it appears you didn't read more than the headline ;-)
I didn't say seo is dead, I rather alluded it might just be that when all people do is following the same regurgitated advice ;-)

besides, I'll repeat myself: I'd rather spend 1 hour on 2.0 content discovery pages than 10 hours being a slave to Googles take on how the internet should be run. The ROI is just so incredibly bad. The only reason I actually still do it is because it's quite unwise to put all your eggs in one basket.

True, the post itself is actually not bad. Just the content itself. Note: The post was about traffic, not SEO!!!.

Seriously, it's 2017 and if you are just talking about Google when it comes to traffic you sort of missed the developments of the past 5 years Sure, people still google a lot. The question is just - which part of that traffic is actually open to you as a guy with a website that isn't wikipedia, reddit, yahoo, amazon or pornhub. And if you compare that to the traffic that is open to you via new, not as saturated channels (flipboard, pinterest, etc), you might notice, that these channels are actually offering the better bang for your buck (by a factor of 10).

also, from a more scientific point of view, it's a bit questionable when you draw all your conclusions from one specific niche - especially one like SEO, where all search queries are done by super targeted business users (as opposed to your average consumer who might eventually feel like getting that tight sweater if you ask him pretty please).

Couldn't agree more. Personally I'm having a blast stacking social, web 2.0, search, etc.. in all kinds of combinations.

quoted from seobullshiter all having 500+ PBNs under their belly and claiming "all my traffic comez from googlez" . yeah. right.

I don't think SEO is dead, lots of companies still use it to promote their websites. But of course, who knows what waits for us in the future..
