Are you using HostGator? If so, you can use QuickInstall via CPanel.
If not, just look at the help docs. It has literally EVERYTHING you need (Google: "Installing WordPress").

  1. [*=left]Download and unzip the WordPress package if you haven't already.
[*=left]Create a database for WordPress on your web server, as well as a http://codex.wordpress.org/Glossary#MySQL user who has all privileges for accessing and modifying it.
[*=left]Upload the WordPress files to the desired location on your web server:

    • [*=left]If you want to integrate WordPress into the root of your domain (e.g. http://example.com/), move or upload all contents of the unzipped WordPress directory (excluding the WordPress directory itself) into the root directory of your web server.
[*=left]If you want to have your WordPress installation in its own subdirectory on your web site (e.g.http://example.com/blog/), create the blog directory on your server and upload the contents of the unzipped WordPress package to the directory via FTP.
[*=left]Note: If your FTP client has an option to convert file names to lower case, make sure it's disabled.

[*=left]Run the WordPress installation script by accessing the URL in a web browser. This should be the URL where you uploaded the WordPress files.

    • [*=left]If you installed WordPress in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/
[*=left]If you installed WordPress in its own subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit:http://example.com/blog/

You also can't expect to be spoonfed with something that's been explained a million times before.
Get a domain. Get hosting. Link your domain to your host. Install Wordpress via Cpanel. You're done.

wordpress.com and wordpress.org are 2 different things.

Wordpress.com - They host the "blog" for you so you get a domain of my_custom_subdomain.wordpress.com - or you can pay to have a custom top level domain, www.mydomain.com; You are limited on some of the functionality unless you upgrade. Great way to get up and going quickly and for free.

Wordpress.org -
Place to download the wordpress frameword to put on your own server. so that you can customize it anyway that you want. Like mentioned above you will need 1. Domain name, 2. Hosting (Hostgator, ixwebhosting, blue host, etc...) to put the files on

most say WP is better .. use both ;)

I started a new blog about some kinds of good milk for babies 1 month ago. I'm using WP for my site. Many of my friends recommended it for me. I think it good.

I prefer WordPress, especially if you are a beginner. The platform is user-friendly letting you take full advantage of their features.

No doubt wordpress is a better option because it is very user friendly.

Why someone digged up one year old thread? Increasing stars ?
Btw, WP is better a lot , (Try to search the forums - Learn , read , you can't be so special to be spoon-fed)

Which Purpose you want to use this ? Its depends on your purpose. If you want to make Business or service provider website then i suggest you to make self hosted wordpress site.

You can use wordpress blog in tow way 1st- you can use wp CMS in your own domain & hosting. 2nd- you can create on blog on wordpress like www.yourname.wordpress.com (this is mine http://khrifat.wordpress.com Just a sample i dont use this for my business)

Which one do you want to use? 1st one cost you but 2nd one is free.

If you want to use that for only blogging (Adsense, Link building service) & want to create free blog then i suggest you create blogger/ blogspot blog. Coz every mother loves her child. She must take care of her child before taking others.

WordPress Easy to use and user friendly for beginners.. I prefer WordPress. Many Features within it..

You Will have great Experience With in this..
